The Caribbean Poker Classic is Coming
Online poker companies are feeling the heat of the competition with all of the poker action available these days to players and one in particular is finding a way to make things even hotter for its software users and loyal players.
The Caribbean Poker Classic (CPC), birth-child of poker software giant CryptoLogic and its licensing subsidiary Wagerlogic, is set to take place on the beautiful island of St. Kitts, from November 25 through December 4, 2005.
Players who choose to play CryptoLogic/WagerLogic tables are eligible to win their way into the land-based, $6,300 buy-in main event, which has an estimated prize pool of $2 million (US).
The second annual CPC looks to be a barn-burner with some of the names already committed to the tournament. It features several World Series of Poker title holders including Jennifer Tilly, Robert Varkoni, and Kathy Liebert. Several World Poker Tour champions have given their commitment as well with "the Unabomber," Phil Laak, leading a group of notable contenders that also includes Juha Helppi, Antonio Esfandiari. There is also a strong pro contingency coming from Europe that includes Julian Thew, Simon Trumper, Xuyen Pham, and Steve Vladar.
According to CryptoLogic's vice president of poker software development, Andy Goetsch, the excitement over the event continues to grow. "The Caribbean Poker Classic is the place to be in late November for world-class poker action. Thanks to CryptoLogic software focused on meeting the needs of the internet poker player, the Caribbean Poker Classic is attracting the champions and stars of land-based poker as well as drawing internet players vying for their spots in paradise and potentially at the final table and televised poker fame."
Taking place on the stunning island of St. Kitts, players will get to experience poker first-class. Winners of online qualifying tournaments will fly to St. Kitts via the CPC Private Poker Jet. While awaiting your arrival on the island, players will be treated to in-flight poker movies like Rounders and instructional tips from pros.
"The success of Caribbean Poker Classic shows the incredible popularity of Internet poker, and that our software has great appeal. This major annual event is also an excellent vehicle for our customers to drive increasing traffic to their poker sites" said Wagerlogic's managing director, A.J. Slivinski in a recent press release.
In addition to the main event, the CPC will offer a large number of side tournaments, satellites and cash games, including entry into seven different freeroll games with cash prizes exceeding $20,000 and a designer watch per event.
