WSOP-C Southern Indiana, Day 2: Samuel Oberlin Heads Final
The final 27 players in the World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event at Horseshoe Southern Indiana wasted no time in getting down to the final table, as Day 2 lasted less than five hours. The roller coaster ride took out several of the days early leaders, and sent a couple of the big names still in the field to the rail.
Bryan "squirrelly1" Sapp claimed the first knockout by bouncing Pat Madden soon after play began. Madden moved all in over the top of Sapp's preflop raise with A?Q?. Sapp called with 10?10?, and sent Madden packing when the board ran out J?6?2?5?5?.
Jamin Stokes took over the chip lead soon after the beginning of Day 2 when he and Kenny Hicks tangled in a big pot. Hicks raised preflop with A?K?, and Stokes reraised. Hicks moved all in, and Stokes tabled one of the two hands that Hicks most feared C K?K?. The board ran out J?5?Q?5?9?, and Stokes vaulted up the leader board as Hicks headed home early.
David and Stacy Kopacz became the story of the tournament on Day 1 as the married couple finished first and third in chips. Stacy left Day 2 in the middle of the pack after Samuel Oberlin doubled through her in a brutal hand. All the money went in preflop and Kopacz tabled K?K?. Oberlin was drawing thin with A?K?, but when the board ran out 8?9?2?4?A?, Oberlin doubled up and left Kopacz on life support. She busted a few hands later in 15th at the hands of Len Ashby. Oberlin went on to finish Day 2 with the chip lead.
Play tightened up a bit as the final table and money bubble approached, but it was finally Bob Cole who burst both bubbles when he finished in 10th place. Cole moved all in preflop with A?5?, and found one caller in Samuel Oberlin. Oberlin's A?K? had a firm lead, and no clubs or fives came on the A?Q?7?J?J? board to save Cole.
