Online Poker: Brent Astrolux85 Roberts Wins WCOOP Event 36
Only a few days of the 2009 World Championship of Online Poker remain and day 15 offered two events, both of which required a deep wallet. The first was Event 36, a $530 no-limit hold'em six-max with rebuys. In addition to the 1,030 entries, there were 1,000 rebuys and 722 add-ons that bumped the prize pool to $1,376,000 and the top prize to over $200,000.
Heads-up play came down to Vladimir VLs85s Vorobiev and Brent Astrolux85 Roberts. Vorobiev began with the chip lead, but Roberts won a crucial hand en route to his comeback victory. On the button, Vorobiev raised and Roberts called, delivering an A?Q?3? flop. It was an action flop as Roberts four-bet all-in with K?10? and was called by Vorobiev who held A?9?. Roberts was on flush and straight draws, getting there as the turn fell the K? and the river the J? to make him the winning straight. It was this hand that brought Roberts back into the game and ultimately the win for $210,000.
