PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour Grand Final Day 1c: Campbell One of The Leaders 0001

Day 1c of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour Grand Final in Sydney, the last of three starting days, got underway Thursday with 209 players entering the field. Combining that number with the entrants from the first two starting days created a first prize of AUD $594,000. When the day concluded, about 120 remained, all trailing David Campbell, who holds the Day 1c chip lead.

While Campbell rather silently amassed his stack without much fanfare, a number of others also excelled Thursday. Among them were two-time APPT High Roller champion Jarred "FlopNutsOnYou" Graham, Mark Vos, Carlos Chang, Anthony Venturini, PokerStars Qualifer Sal Fazzino, In Wook Choi and Sayed Jabbor. Jabbor won a pretty large pot with the old 10?2? during the middle of the day, eliminating ChipMeUp.com founder Rayan Nathan who flopped the nut-flush draw. The flush didn't materialize, and Jabbor ended the day around 80,000.

Others surviving the day's action were Team PokerStars Pro's Raymond Wu and Grant Levy. Levy, a Sydney native, and ambassador for the Star City Casino was extremely keen to excel Thursday, as last year he was eliminated on Day 1 of this same event.

Although Day 1c was a star-studded day, packed with the majority of the bigger name players. for many of them, it would be a short day. Team PokerStars Pro's, Peter Eastgate, Celina Lin, Tony Hachem, Emad Tahtouh, Bryan Huang and Joe Hachem were all knocked out Thursday. Hachem was all in with A?K? against Liem Tran's Q?Q?, and hit his ace on a A?10?3? flop. The J? on the turn was safe for Hachem, but the 4? on the river gave Tran a flush, eliminating Hachem from the tournament. Also, not surviving the day were 2009 WSOP Player of the Year Jeffrey Lisandro, 2009 Aussie Millions Champion Stewart Scott, and Steve Topakas.

The field will all be in the Star City Casino poker room for the first time tomorrow for Day 2, which begins at 12:30 p.m. (GMT +11). Be sure to stay tuned to PokerNews for live coverage of the event.
