Aussie Millions: Main Event Update and $100,000 Challenge 0001

The 2010 Aussie Millions Main Event is under way. We've seen two Day 1 flights take the felt. The second flight of Day 1 saw ten more players enter the field than did on the first flight, bringing the total number of entrants so far to 476, with more expected on Tuesday.

Day 1a saw a slew of notables take to the felt. Not all survived to see Day 2 though, but lucky for them, there are plenty of other side events running during the Main Event. Erick Lindgren, Tom Dwan, Sorel Mizzi, Andrew Feldman, and Barry Greenstein are just a few of the people coming back to the Crown Poker Room on Wednesday.

Jarred Graham, Phil Ivey, John Tabatabai, Mike 'SirWatts' Watson, and Emad Tahtouh are just a few that had their Main Event cut short.

As for Day 1b, Annette Obrestad, Jeffrey Lisandro, Andy Lichtenberger, Van Marcus, and World Series of Poker 2009 last woman standing, Leo Margets made it through. Some that weren't lucky enough were reigning Aussie Millions champ Stewart Scott, Grant Levy, Erik Seidel, Chris Ferguson, and Tony Dunst.

Day 1c kicks off Tuesday at 12:30 local time and we're sure to see a packed house at the Crown Poker Room.

$100,000 Challenge

When play began today, eight players sat down at the table with Jonathan "xMONSTERxDONGx Karamalikis leading the way. Dan Shak went into the final table of the $100,000 Challenge second in chips but came out the champion. Shak busted Karamalikis and Tony G on his way to the victory.

When heads-up play against Phil Ivey began, Shak was behind Ivey in the chip counts, but not by much. He waited it out though and got his money in where he thought he was good and eventually took down the $1.2 million AUID prize, a trophy and a bracelet.

$100,000 Challenge Results

1. Dan Shak - $1,200,000 AUD
2. Phil Ivey - $600,000 AUD
3. Billy Jordanou - $300,000 AUD
