What Stood Out During the 2010 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP)
The 2010 Spring Championship of Online Poker on PokerStars concluded earlier this week with Ryan "toetagU" Fair winning the $10K Main Event outright for $1,162,350. With this victory, Fair clinched both the largest cash and most money won during the series. After 16 days of tournament madness, some eye-popping statistics were gathered by PokerStars. Among them were:

Number of unique players - 130,746
Total Prize Money - $63,802,405
Here are some headlines that stood out to us:
No-Show Negreanu
Alright, so Daniel Negreanu was not a complete no-show. He did underwhelm, though, only playing in four events. Forget his results (0-4 in cashing). The slow structures would have seemed to have been right up his alley, especially in the high buy-ins. Sure the World Series of Poker is on the horizon and that might call for a good dose of rest. However, that did not stop fellow Canadian Sorel "zangbezan24" Mizzi from having an excellent SCOOP, as well as placing second in the World Poker Tour Grand Prix de Paris High-Roller event. Mizzi is on a serious heater heading into the WSOP and for the first time in many years. Negreanu is not the top Canadian player to watch this summer.
Player of the Series - George "Jorj95" Lind III
What do five final tables and 27 cashes get you? In the case of George Lind III, it gets you the title of Player-of-the-Series. For taking the honors, Lind III received a Player of the Series trophy, a 2010 WCOOP Main Event ticket, a 2011 PCA prize package, a 2011 EPT Monte Carlo prize package, and a Special Edition PokerStars chip set, which all definitely seems well worth the effort. His best finish and biggest cash came in Event 25-H, the $2,100 stud h/l. Lind III took 2nd place for $44,000 and is at the top of his game heading into the WSOP.
First Player to Win SCOOP Events in Consecutive Years - John "jmonnett" Monnette
Once Event 24-H ($1,050 2-7 triple draw) was down to heads-up, there was guaranteed to be the first player to win SCOOP titles in consecutive years. The tournament came down to John Monnette and Terrance "Unassigned" Chan. Last year, Chan won two limit-hold'em six-max events in the same day. When the 2-7 triple draw affair was down to the two of them, a lengthy battle ensued. Monnette held a sizable chip lead, but Chan would not go easily. He survived several all ins, but in the end Monnette sealed the deal and took home the winner's watch. In last year's SCOOP, he won a $3,150 Stud event and is the only player with wins in both SCOOP series.
