Midwest Stop

The World Series of Poker Circuit is hosting its second stop on the 2010-2011 schedule at the Horseshoe Southern Indiana in Elizabeth, Indiana. Everything kicks off October 2 with a $350 no-limit hold'em event. There are 10 events on the docket for the Circuit stop which runs through October 12. The $1,600 Main Event gets under way October 10 and on the line is the prize money (obviously), the coveted WSOP-Circuit gold ring, and a seat to the $1 million WSOPC National Championship that will take place in May 2011 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

The reigning champion of the Horseshoe Southern Indiana Circuit event is Gabriel Cook, a 33-year-old high school special education teacher who satellited his way into the event and turned that into over $92,000.

We are very excited to be hosting our eighth Circuit Event here in Southern Indiana and are planning on this Circuit stop being one of the biggest we have had in years, poker room manager and tournament director, Jimmy Allen said.

Double Trouble

The Doubles Poker Championship is down to its final two preliminary matches. They will air on GSN on October 2. When all is said and done in these two matches, we'll know the final 16 players who will be advancing to the semifinals.

Since we're good at math, we can already give you the list of players who have accumulated the projected 35 points that are needed to advance. Drum roll please; Erick Lindgren, Johnny Chan, Phil Galfond, Annette Obrestad, Andrew Lichtenberger, Phil Gordon, Huck Seed, David Benyamine, Allen Cunningham, Chris Ferguson, Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer, Toto Leonidas, and Nick Schulman. That's 14 players if you were counting, meaning there are only two spots left, which causes quite the dilemma for the nine players who are still in contention.

Who will it be? Will PokerNews' Tony G send his opponents on their way on their bikes and sneak into one of those spots? Or will it be Carlos Mortensen or Erick Siedel who will get one of the spots?

You'll have to tune in to GSN Saturday night at 9 p.m. EDT to find out.
