Las Vegas Life with Kristy Arnett: Poker After Dark, Vacation, and Podcast 0001

I know the title of this article is Las Vegas Life with Kristy Arnett, but honestly, I've been everywhere but here in the past few weeks. Before I get into that though, in the last article, I wrote about checking out the filming of the new Poker After Dark season and finding a pot-limit Omaha cash game. I promised a sneak peak in a Sin City Series video.

I caught up with Phil Galfond and Brian Hastings to get their thoughts on the introduction of pot-limit Omaha on Poker After Dark, as well as the tough line up. Poker After Dark commentator Ali Nejad discussed what it's like to simplify the game for the general poker audience and what it was like to watch these guys play at such high stakes. It was released a couple weeks ago, but here it is.

Not only is the new season of Poker After Dark going to have PLO, but it's going to have more cash games in general. The producer of PAD, Mori Eskandani, likes to give viewers what they want, and apparently what they want to see six-figures exchange hands with regularity. There were only three sit-and-gos recorded, and the rest were cash games. I know you're all licking your chops to find out when it all airs, so here are some of my favorite line-ups and when they air.

Week of January 3

  • $100,000 Sit-and-go?: John Juanda, Erick Lindgren, Phil Galfond, Huck Seed, Tom Dwan, Phil Ivey

Week of April 4

  • $50,000 Sit-and-go?: Andrew Lichtenberger, Eric Baldwin, Melanie Weisner, Doyle Brunson, Annette Obrestad, Tom Dwan

Week of April 11

  • $100,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Cash Game Part 1?: Brandon Adams, Patrik Antonius, Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Brian Hastings, Phil Galfond

Week of June 20

  • $100,000 Cash Game Part 1?: Mike Matusow, Jean-Robert Bellande, Peter Jetten, Brandon Adams, Chris Ferguson, Michael Mizrachi

Week of November 28

  • $200,000 Cash Game Part 2?: Tom Dwan, David Peat, Patrik Antonius, Phil Ivey, David Oppenheim, Eli Elezra

First Stop, Hollywood

After the November Nine, I headed to Los Angeles for the last PokerStars.net North American Poker Tour event of Season 1. I have never really been able to see Los Angeles before, so it was nice to spend some time there. As you can see, the PokerNews team works hard but always has fun together.

In case you missed it, here's a quick recap of the event.

Soon after NAPT LA, I took a vacation and flew to Miami to meet up with Lynn Gilmartin for a five-day cruise. It was absolutely amazing. She wrote all about it in the latest edition of Around the World with Lynn Gilmartin.

Now that I'm back in Vegas, PokerNews Editor-in-Chief Matthew Parvis and I went to the Bellagio to check out the World Poker Tour Five-Diamond World Poker Classic. We recorded the latest edition of the PokerNews Podcast on Day 4 with special guest Jonathan Little. Check it out.

Little's fellow Victory Poker teammates Antonio Esfandiari and Andrew Robl went heads-up for the title, with Esfandiari coming out with the win.

Since being back, I've also gotten back into the swing of things, including grinding during my off time. When I play live, there are a few rooms that are my go-to, but Venetian is definitely at the top of the list. I went there last week for a Sin City Series video on where to find mixed games.

And speaking of grinding, there is also a Mini FTOPS going on right now that is perfect for smaller bankrolls. I think I'll be getting into a few of those until I head to Atlantic City later this month for the World Series of Poker Regional Championship.
