Gus Hansen

Heading into the midweek, Gus Hansen was on fire, having won nearly $750,000 over the weekend. His momentum continued over the past few days as he added an additional $400,000 to his year-to-date total in 32 sessions spanning 3,948 hands. Hansen was not the only one in action; in fact, both Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars were characterized by big pots involving players such as Scott "URnotINdanger2" Palmer, Ben Sauce123 Sulsky, and Benjamin Bttech86 Tollerene.

Hansen vs. Palmer

Gus Hansen was back in action on Wednesday against Scott URnotINdanger2 Palmer on the $500/$1,000 pot-limit Omaha tables. The two players got into some pretty big pots, including one that began when Palmer ($128,997.50) raised to $3,000 on the button and Hansen ($110,994) reraised to $9,000. Palmer four-bet to $27,000, Hansen called, and the 10?6?8? was put out on the flop. Hansen checked, Palmer bet $54,000, and Hansen moved all in for a total of $83,994. After Palmer called the additional $29,994, the cards were turned up.

Palmer: J?Q?A?10?
Hansen: 2?9?5?7?

Hansen had flopped the nut straight with a flush draw to boot, putting him in great shape to scoop the pot. The turn and river were run twice, and things were about to be turned upside down. When the first run came down J? and J?, Palmer managed to make a runner-runner full house and secure half the pot. On the second run, the 3? turn and K? river gave him a runner-runner flush to lock up the other half of the $221,988 pot.

While Palmer got extremely fortunate in the aforementioned hand, not all things went his way in his match against Hansen. A monster pot between the two occurred when Palmer ($376,474.50) raised to $3,000, Hansen ($143,493) reraised to $9,000, Palmer four-bet to $27,000, and Hansen called. When the flop fell 8?K?3?, Hansen checked, Palmer bet $54,000, Hansen check-raised all-in for $116,493, and Palmer called $62,493 more.

Palmer: A?A?7?9?
Hansen: J?Q?K?10?

In a pot worth $286,986, Palmer was out in front with a pair of aces and the nut flush draw. Once again the turn and river were run twice, but this time it was Hansen who lucky as the J?Q? fell on the first run and 10?7? on the second. Both gave him two pair, good enough to scoop the entire pot.

Also11 Drives PokerStars Action

The player known only as Also11 was in action on Wednesday at the PokerStars $100/$200 no-limit holdem tables. It was there that he squared off against Scott urnotindanger Palmer and took down a few decent pots. While the high-stakes games on PokerStars arent on par with Full Tilt, theyve been more active in recent months, due in no small part to Viktor Isildur1 Bloms signing as a Team Pro.

In one of the more notable PokerStars hands of the midweek, Also11 ($63,034) raised to $600 on the button only to have Palmer ($22,747.50) reraise to $2,000. Also11 then made it $3,800. Palmer called, and the flop came down 6?Q?9?, which both players checked. When the J? hit the turn, Palmer bet $4,400. Also11 called, and the 9? was put out on the river. Palmer wasted little time in moving all in for $14,547.50 and Also11 made the call. Palmer rolled over 4?10? for complete air while Also11 took down the $45,496 pot with his K?9?.

Another hand between the two saw Also11 ($11,698) once again raise to $600 on the button, which Palmer ($67,688) reraised to $1,800. Surprisingly, Also11 moved all in for $11,698 and Palmer called.

Also11: 7?7?
Palmer: A?Q?

It was a classic race as the flop fell 10?A?5?, giving Palmer a pair of aces and the lead. The 8? turn changed nothing and left Also11 drawing to a seven on the river. As fate would have it, the 7? spiked and Also11 took down the $23,394 pot. Unfortunately, Also11's luck would take a turn for the worst and he ended up one of the biggest losers of the midweek.
