World Series of Poker Circuit Rincon Main Event Day 2: Easley Leads Final Table
Day 2 of the $1,600 Main Event at the 2010-2011 World Series of Poker Circuit Event C Rincon wrapped up on Friday after a rather short day of play. When the day began, 36 players remained. At the end of the day, only nine were left at the final table. Leading the way: Seneca Easley with 856,000 in chips.
It only took a couple of hours before the field was on the bubble with 22 players left. Ivan Dcunha was severely short-stacked and the man everyone was keeping an eye on. From under the gun plus one, Dcunha moved all in for his last 15,000. Action folded to Michael Simon in the big blind who made the call with 8?3?. Dcunha held Q?J?.
The flop came down A?K?4? and Dcunha stayed in front. The turn was the 5? and the river the 8?. Simon paired his eight on the river and that was the blow that sent Dcunha out the door in the last unpaid spot of the tournament.
From there, Steve Nixon, Andrew Moreno and Harold Wasson all hit the rail in 21st, 20th and 19th before the final two table redraw was made. Moreno and Wasson were both eliminated by Shaun Walker on the same hand.
Moreno was all-in with A?2?, Walker was all-in with 9?9? and Wasson was all-in with A?A?.
The flop came down K?9?8? and Walker nailed a set of nines. The turn brought the 10? and the river the K?. Walker had both players covered so Moreno and Wasson were sent to the rail in 20th place and 19th place, respectively.
After the redraw, former PokerNews employee Garry Gates was eliminated in another double-elimination hand that sent tablemate John Coon to the rail, as well.
From under the gun, Simon raised to 17,000 and Coon reraised all in from the next seat for 51,500. Lori Nunes was in the hijack and attempted to reraise, but didn't put out enough chips so it was ruled just a call. Action then folded to Gates in the small blind and he tanked for a few minutes. Eventually, Gates moved all in himself for about 91,000. Simon got out of the way at this point and then Nunes made the call.
Gates: Q?Q?
Nunes: 6?6?
Coon: A?J?
Gates held the best of it, but that would all change as the flop rolled out 9?7?6? to give Nunes a set. Nunes bounced from her chair and gave a fist pump with full knee action as she knew she took a big lead in the hand.
The turn brought the 7? and gave Nunes a full house. It left Coon drawing dead, but Gates could still hit a queen or a seven on the river.
The river completed the board with the 10? and that was all she wrote for Gates, as well. Nunes scooped the massive 260,000-chip pot and eliminated both players from the tournament.
Eddy Sabat finished in 13th place, having gone down at the hands of Jason Wheeler who out-flopped Sabats pocket tens with pocket fours after all of the money went in preflop.
With the elimination of Brian Green in 10th place, the official final table was set. Easley opened to 27,000 from late position, and Green three-bet shoved for about 100,000 total. When it came back to Easley, he quickly made the call, and the cards were on their backs.
Easley: A? 10?
Green: A? Q?
Easley and Simon had a quick conversation as the dealer burned a card, and Simon wished Easley luck. "Thanks," Easley said. "I'm running well."
Flop: 4? 10? 2?
"See?" Easley insisted. Green was not too thrilled as a look of deep disdain crossed his face. He was two cards from the exit door, and the turn 4? and river 5? failed to find his queen.
