World Poker Tour Seminole Hard Rock Showdown Day 5: Von Kriegenbergh Takes Massive Lead into Final Table
The televised final table was set at the World Poker Tour Seminole Hard Rock Showdown on Sunday and only six payers remain. Those six will return to action on Monday to play for the $1,122,340 first-place prize. Leading the final table with a commanding chip lead is Taylor von Kriegenbergh. Hell enter the day with 4.384 million in chips.
When the day began, 18 players remained from the starting field of 433. The first player to be eliminated on Day 5 was Noah Schwartz. He was all-in with the A?9?, but couldnt improve against James Mackeys pocket tens.
When the field was down to ten, all reconvened at one table with von Kriegenbergh leading the way. From there, Bruce Snell was the first to go in tenth place and fell at the hands of Allen Bari. Next out the door in ninth was Mike Shklover. He was eliminated by Tommy Vedes.
Blair Hinkle finished in eighth place after beginning the day as the chip leader. Hinkle was eliminated on the 28th hand of the final table and according to the WPT Live Update Team, heres how it went down.
Vedes raised to 45,000 with the blinds at 10,000/20,000 with a 3,000 ante. Justin Zaki reraised to 145,000 from the small blind and then Hinkle moved all-in from the big blind for about one million in chips. After Vedes folded, Zaki snapped with A?A?. Hinkle turned over 8?8?. The board ran out Q?J?3?5?4? and that was all she wrote for Hinkle. He took home $91,450 for his finish.
The hand that gave von Kriegenbergh the big chip lead came up shortly after Hinkle was out the door. Von Kriegenbergh raised to 50,000 with the blinds now at 12,000/24,000 with a 4,000 ante. Abbey Daniels reraised to 150,000 from the small blind and von Kriegenbergh called. After the flop came down K?Q?5?, Daniels bet out 200,000. Von Kriegenbergh raised to 600,000 and, instantly, Daniels made the call.
The turn card was the 2? and Daniels checked to her opponent. Von Kriegenbergh bet all of his chips, moving all-in for 1.146 million. Daniels called and showed A?K? for top pair and a flush draw. Von Kriegenbergh tabled the 5?5? for a set of fives. The river completed the board with the 2? and although it gave Daniels her flush, the deuce paired the board and von Kriegenbergh nailed a full house. That pot put von Kriegenbergh at around 3.8 million in chips.
On the 38th hand of the final table, Mackey was eliminated in seventh place and ended play for the day. The player who busted him was none other than chip leader von Kriegenbergh. Mackey was all-in with pockets fives to von Kriegenberghs pocket eights. After the board ran out A?K?9?4?K?, Mackey was eliminated in seventh place for $124,704.
