Around the WSOP with Lynn Gilmartin: Week #5

2 min read

We're into the fifties! Event #51 begins Thursday at the 42nd Annual World Series of Poker, and with the big dance being the 58th event, that can only mean it's just a few sleeps away. Although the event I'm most excited about at this very moment is #53. It's the one that makes the Pavillion a whole lot prettier when over 1,000 ladies take their seats in the Ladies Event. That one kicks off Friday and yours truly will be taking her own seat for the first time this WSOP! Fingers crossed. And toes. And whatever else you can cross. I'll need it!

As for the past week, we've had plenty of videos cycle through our players on PokerNews.com, and I hope you managed to catch them all! If not, then here are my five favorites, starting with Sarah Grant's calling of the clock on Team PokerStars Pro Angel Guillen.

Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier won his second bracelet last weekend and it wasn't just his poker-playing skills that were entertaining. His rail stole the show to say the least. Kristy Arnett captured it perfectly in the following video. Who needs to see the real winner interview when Allen Bari does such a perfect impersonation?

As for amazing wins and crazy rails, one of my favorite Brazilians takes the cake. Another Team PokerStars Pro makes the cut in my favorite videos of the week when Andre Akkari finally won his first bracelet! I couldn't be happier for him, he's such an amazingly loved person as you can see from the most epic rail I've ever witnessed. Ever.

Occasionally we get to slip away from the Rio to bring you some fun stuff from around Sin City. This week, I scored a guided tour of Adam "Roothlus" Levy's ridiculously huge Las Vegas mansion that he and eight other poker players have rented for the Series.

Lastly, if you happen to disconnect from the virtual world of grinding WSOP updates for a while, then the PokerNews Weekly Turbo is your perfect source to catch up on all the highlights each week. Here, Kristy and Sarah discuss last week's bracelet winners and highlights, and even attempt some random new sign-offs. Do yourself a favor and watch through to the end!

Head on over to the PokerNews video page to see the rest of our continuous coverage of the 42nd Annual World Series of Poker.
