The Sunday Briefing: Owen "ocrowe" Crowe Wins Sunday Warm-up

Another very profitable Sunday has passed for several players on the virtual felt. Four players pocketed over $100,000 on Sunday, with the biggest belonging to Joao Paulo "Ponga80" Aquino for winning the Sunday Million. Owen "ocrowe" Crowe took down the Sunday Warm-Up for a monster score, too. Michael "swisstard" Schurpf and Marc "dean23price" Wright also collected first-place finishes during online-poker's biggest day.

PokerStars Sunday Million ($1M Guaranteed)

While the Sunday Million saw a slight dip in attendance this week, there were still three six-figure scores. When play was three handed, Trung "dynastyzz" Tran was all-in with A?J? and appeared primed to double up through Joao Paulo "Ponga80" Aquino's A?8?. The Q?6?3? flop was harmless, but the 8? hit the turn to give Aquino the lead. The 10? fell on the river, leaving play heads-up between Aquino and "kmichael14."

While at first a deal appeared imminent, Aquino decided against it before the numbers were presented, instead wanting to duke it out. It turned out to be the right decision for him because he took control of the match en route to victory. On the final hand, a series of preflop raises led to "kmichael14" being all-in and at risk with 9?9? against Aquino's Q?J?. The board ran out J?4?4?7?5?, clinching the tournament and $198,490.50 for Aquino.

PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up ($500K Guaranteed)

Without a doubt, the biggest name at the Sunday Warm-up final table was Owen "ocrowe" Crowe. He entered the final table second in chips and made it to heads-up play with a sizable chip lead. His opponent, "assalbi," was not going to make things easy though. Crowe was in dominating position to end the tournament with A?10? against "assalbi's" A?8? but the board came down 7?5?4?5?6? to give "assalbi" a straight to survive and take the chip lead.

Crowe battled back and eventually held up with the better hand to retake the lead. His A?Q? dodged A?J? as the board ran out K?9?5?7?6?. He won the tournament shortly thereafter for a $101,768.21 payday.

PokerStars Sunday 500 ($250K Guaranteed)

The PokerStars Sunday 500 attracted 767 entrants creating a $383,500 prize pool, smashing the $250,000 guarantee. Online specialists Ozenc "ozenc" Demir and Ami "UhhMee" Barer both made the final table of the Sunday 500, but it was "rizih" who emerged victorious for $69,030.

Notable Finishes: Andre "aakkari" Akkari (15th - $3,259.75), Aaron "JeanGrae" McCready (19th - $1,764.10)

PokerStars Bigger $109 ($100K Guaranteed)

The Bigger $109 was, in fact, bigger than last week. The 2,593 entrants were six more than last week, creating a $259,300 prize pool. Taking it down outright was "CuAt69UsdSng" for $42,525.20.

PokerStars $109 Sunday Rebuy ($200K Guaranteed)

Typically a lock to have notable players at the final table is the PokerStars $109 Sunday Rebuy, and that was certainly the case this week. A $309,700 prize pool was created by the 953 entrants. Michael "swisstard" Schurpf edged out Clark "snake8484" Hamagami to win the $58,068.75 first-place prize.

PokerStars Sunday 2nd Chance ($125K Guaranteed)

The biggest name to make the final table of the Sunday 2nd Chance was JC "PrtyPsux" Alvarado. He took ninth place for $2,868, while "nerdje08" edged out the 1,195-player field to take home the $43,020 first-place prize.

Notable Finishes: Paul "Sircall" Kristofferson (10th - $2,270.50)

PokerStars Bigger $162 ($100K Guaranteed)

The Bigger $162 attracted 1,273 entrants on Sunday, creating a $190,950 prize pool. Several excellent online stars final tabled the tournament, but it was Marc "dean23price" Wright besting "Sirocko" heads-up after a deal was reached. Price took home $30,193 for his efforts.

PokerStars Sunday Storm ($200K Guaranteed)

Once again, the Sunday Storm attracted more than 30,000 players. The $10+$1 buy-in tournament boasted a $300,840 prize pool. After a deal was reached with three players remaining, "WorDn" took first place and the top score of $23,120.98.

PokerStars Sunday Kickoff ($75K Guaranteed)

The Sunday Kickoff almost doubled its $75,000 guarantee on Sunday. The 1,310 entrants created a $131,000 prize pool in the opening Sunday Major of the week. "M@RS_iK*FLA*" bested the field outright for a $22,270 payday.
