PokerStars.com European Poker Tour Berlin Day 3: 24 Remain; Marc Wright Leads

Day 3 at the 2012 PokerStars.com European Poker Tour Berlin Main Event ended after the elimination of Simon Persson in 25th place. Leading the final 24 players is Marc Wright with 2.4 million in chips.

Wright was crushing the tournament for most of the day and seemed to be unstoppable. His only slipup seemed to come at the end of the day when he missed a big draw with A?6? against an opponent's pocket tens after all of the money went in on the 9?8?5? flop. Even so, he finished ahead of everyone else.

Charging up behind Wright was Thomas Cibak, who is credited with sending Persson out the door to end the day after besting Persson's two tens with pocket queens. Cibak will enter Day 4 with 2.311 million in chips.

Of the 102 players who came back for Day 3, Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst was one of them. Unfortunately, her run ended in 48th place for 13,000 on the following hand.

Selbst fired 80,000 on the Q?J?2? flop into opponent Andrew Chen. Chen made the call and the turn brought the 8?. Selbst fired again for 150,000, Chen called, and the river was the 7? bringing in a backdoor flush. Selbst moved all in for what looked like 280,000. Chen snap-called and showed the nut flush, although his exact holding was unknown. After her exit, Selbst mentioned she had flopped a set, but we'll have to wait until the hand airs on TV to see if that's true or not.

Other notable players eliminated on the day were JP Kelly (70th - 11,000), Will Molson (42nd - 13,000), Jan Heitmann (29th - 17,500) and William Thorson (28th - 17,500).

Kevin MacPhee, the Season 6 winner of the EPT Berlin Main Event, is still in contention and has advanced to Day 4 with 430,000 in chips. Our very own Lynn Gilmartin caught up with him during one of the breaks on Thursday and you can check out that interview below.

MacPhee's not the only former EPT champion hanging around, though. Both Anton Wigg and Vladimir Geshkenbein have EPT titles and finished on 973,000 and 1,053,000, respectively.
