Faraz Jaka

Day 13 of the 2012 Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) at PokerStars was unlucky for many, but a certain few had excellent days. Ami "UhhMee" Barer made two final tables, winning a SCOOP watch in the process. Kevin "kev19" Tanner earned a victory as well. The biggest prize of the day, though, went to Faraz "The-Toilet 0" Jaka for taking down Event #33-H for $173,720.

Just five returned for Friday's second day of play in the "High" version of the PLO hi/lo event, with "gmcrafter" leading and "Aquasces1" in second with less than half "gmcrafter's" stack.

It only took a couple of minutes on Day 2 for the short stack Rory "Mafews" Mathews to tumble in fifth. Mathews' last hand began with a raise from under the gun, a three-bet by "bleu329" from the blinds, and a call by Mathews. The flop came A?K?5?, and when "bleu329" continued with a pot-sized bet, Mathews called all-in for 34,522. Mathews had A?10?5?2? for aces and fives, while "blue329" had A?Q?3?2? for a lone pair of aces and a nice low draw. The turn and river then both brought eights, giving "bleu329" that low plus counterfeiting Mathews' two pair to give "bleu329" a better high, too, leaving the field with four.

That group played on for nearly two hours before the next player, "PICKLED EGG," fell in fourth. Having slipped to less than one big blind (5,000), "PICKLED EGG" was all-in before the flop from the big blind against two opponents. Ultimately "Aquasces1" bet "bleu329" out of the hand, and when the board completed as 10?7?4?4?3?, "Aquasces1" had made a full house and a 7-6-4-3-A low with A?10?6?4?. That was better than the two pair and no low "PICKLED EGG" had with K?J?10?9?, and they were down to three.

Just after the second break of Day 2, "gmcrafter" opened with a min-raise to 10,000 from the button, then "Aquasces1" re-raised pot to 32,500 from the big blind. "gmcrafter" called, and when the flop came A?9?2?, a quick exchange of bets put "Aquasces1" all-in with A?K?9?6? (top two) versus "gmcrafter"'s 9?9?8?4? (middle set). The turn was the 8? and river the 7?, giving both players low hands, but "gmcrafter's" was better, good enough for a scoop and knockout of "Aquasces1" in third.

"gmcrafter" led with 360,078 to the 339,922 of "bleu329" to start heads-up play, but "bleu329" would dominate thereafter, winning all 13 hands the pair would play to finish off the tournament in five more minutes.

By the final hand, "blue329" was up over 600,000 while "gmcrafter" had slipped under 95,000. "bleu329" opened with a min-raise to 10,000 from the button, "gmcrafter" made it 30,000, "bleu329" 90,000, then "gmcrafter" added the last 2,578 behind and "bleu329" called. "gmcrafter" had A?K?9?2? and "bleu329" A?10?7?3?, and when the five community cards came 6?4?5?10?2?, "bleu329" had a seven-high straight and a 5-4-3-2-A low, better than "gmcrafter"'s pair of deuces and 6-5-4-2-A.

"bleu329" won, earning a second SCOOP watch of the series after having just taken down Event #30-H ($2,100 NLH, Super KO, 6-max) two days earlier. Here are the full final table results for Event #32-H, including Thursday night's cashers:

Just nine survived Thursday's first day of play in the "Medium" version of the PLO hi/lo event, with Paul "paulgees81" Volpe returning as chip leader. Volpe fell in sixth, however, as the rapid pace from Day 1 continued on Friday.

After about an hour and 15 minutes of play on Day 2 the field was down to three, at which point the tourney was paused to discuss a deal. At that point, "sitation" led with close to half the chips in play with just over 2.2 million, with both "midastruck" and "Cashcid Linc" nearly even at just under 1.2 million each. After some discussion, terms couldn't be reached, and shortly after play resumed "sitation" knocked out "midastruck" in third.

At that point the remaining two discussed a deal once more, but again none was made. "Cashcid Linc" then closed the gap to nearly even, then came a hand in which heavy betting on a 10?7?6? flop led to "Cashcid Linc" being all-in with A?K?8?8? versus the J?10?10?2? of "sitation." The turn was the 8? and river the 9?, and "sitation"'s straight was best.

It took "DamienRise" just under an hour to finish off the remaining field to claim the Event #32-L title. The day began with "DamienRise" quickly knocking out "remars81" to reduce the field to three. Augustas "AugustasN" Navickas then took care of "Zlushcliy" in third to set up heads-up with "DamienRise."

In the final hand, the pair got all of Navickas' chips in the middle before the flop with Navickas holding J?J?8?7? and "DamienRise" Q?J?10?10?. The board then rolled out 8?9?3?4?7? to give "DamienRise" a straight flush and the win.

Thanks to a five-way deal made late Thursday, runner-up Navickas actually came away with the lion's share of the prize money. Here are the full final table results for Event #32-L:

The final 27 players made the money in Event #33-H when Shyam "G's zee" Srinivasan bubbled. At the 400/800/100 level, Srinivasan shoved from the hijack for 10,869. David "SexSeen" Sands woke up with J?J? and isolated the pot. Srinivasan trailed with A?J? and failed to catch up as the board ran out K?Q?7?5?K?.

Sands, though, fell in in 23rd place for $8,080. Others to cash and fall short of the final table were Bryn "BrynKenney" Kenney (11th - $14,140), Shaun "shaundeeb" Deeb (12th - $14,140), Philipp "philbort" Gruissem (14th - $12,120), Vicky Coren (17th - $10,100), Nick "GripDsNutz" Grippo (18th - $10,100), Ignat "0Human0" Liviu (20th - $8,080), Josh "JBT449" Bergman (21st - $8,080), Kevin "ImaLuckSac" MacPhee (22nd - $8,080), Anthony "wwwBTHEREcom" Gregg (24th - $8,080), Martin ""0PIGGYBANK"" Finger (25th - $8,080), Ankush "pistons87" Mandavia (26th - $8,080), and Mike "Sowerss" Sowers (27th - $8,080).

Here the chip counts of those who made the final table:

Rory "Mafews" Mathews busted a few hands into the final table at 1,250/2,500/325. He was in early position and opened to 5,000, getting folds from all except Faraz "The-Toilet 0" Jaka in the big blind. Jaka shoved with the bigger stack, resulting in an all-in call for 55,301 from Mathews with 10?10?. He had Jaka's 6?6? crushed, but the board ran out J?5?4?Q?6? as Jaka spiked the two-outer river to score the elimination.

Two hands later, Randal "RandALLin" Flowers fell in eighth place to "Sphinx87." In early position, "Sphinx87" min-raised to 5,000 and Flowers shoved from the cutoff for 38,713. Action folded back to "Sphinx87" who called with A?K?. Flowers was behind with A?Q? and remained that way through the 8?4?3? flop. The Q? hit the turn to give Flowers the lead, but the 3? river gave "Sphinx87" the pot with a flush.

The next to go was Ryan "HITTHEPANDA" Franklin at 1,500/3,000/375. Action folded to Faraz Jaka in the hijack who raised to 6,000. Franklin three-bet jammed for 72,700 from the button and was quickly called by Jaka with A?K?. Franklin tabled 7?7? and even though he flopped a set, he fell when the board completed Q?9?7?6?J? when Jaka rivered the nut flush.

"Sphinx87" exited shortly thereafter, getting it in for 60,702 with A?A? against the 9?9? of Max Lykov. Lykov was in danger of being down to a mere three big blinds, but luckily for him the flop fell Q?9?9? to give him quads. No running aces appeared, ending "Sphinx87's" run.

One hand after running Q?Q? into the A?A? of "zugzwang16", Faraz Jaka picked up Q?Q? again and found a better result. The blinds and antes were 2,000/4,000/500 and Jaka min-raised to 8,000 from the hijack. Action folded to Max Lykov in the big blind and he moved all-in for 131,026 with A?Q?. Jaka called and his hand held as the board fell J?10?6?6?4?.

Falling in fourth place was "r?mps?" at 2,500/5,000/675. From the cutoff, "zugzwang16" min-raised to 10,000. From the small blind "r?mps?" three-bet to 23,899, only to see "zugzwang16" four-bet shove for 198,879. A call from "r?mps?" (with three big blinds behind) revealed 9?9?, racing with the Q?J? of "zugzwang16." The board rolled out A?J?6?8?3? to give "zugzwang16" the pot. "r?mps?" busted the following hand.

The final three players looked at numbers for a deal, but after about 15 minutes of discussions nothing was agreed upon. Play resumed and "zugzwang16" exited in third place. Jaka min-raised on the button and "HC_68" called from the small blind. In the big blind, "zugzwang16" three-bet to 31,075 and Jaka came back with a four-bet to 62,022. "HC_68" ducked out of the way, "zugzwang16" shoved for 231,366, and Jaka called with 10?10?. Holding A?10?, "zugzwang16" needed a bit of help to survive. The flop was a great one for Jaka. It fell K?K?10? to give him a full house. No miracle runner runner saved "zugzwang16," leaving two to battle it out.

Heads-up play began with Jaka holding a comfortable 890,003 to 321,997 lead against "HC_68" and it didn't take all that long for Jaka to close it out at 3,000/6,000/750. At about an 11:1 chip disadvantage, "HC_68" min-raised to 12,000 on the button. A call from Jaka landed a J?7?2? flop which he checked. "HC_68" bet 12,000, Jaka re-raised to 1,000,000, and "HC_68" called all-in for another 73,785 with 10?10?. Jaka held a flush draw with 6?3? and got there when the J? hit the turn. Still needing to dodge four outs, Jaka did just that when the 8? landed on the river to lock up the SCOOP victory for him.

The "High" version of Friday's fixed-limit hold'em featured a big $5K buy-in which ensured a small field of tough LHE players. Just 62 joined the fray more than enough to crush another SCOOP guarantee which meant only those lasting to the final nine would get paid.

A number of elite players were among the entrants, but as they approached the six-hour mark most had been sent toward the rail. That's when Joep "Pappe_Ruk" van den Bijgaart was ousted in 13th place and they were down to two six-handed tables. "MaiseE" led the way with a dozen left as the only player over 50,000, followed by "valesco" and "ibadbeatyou."

Over the next hour-plus two more fell "JesusLebtNOT" (12th) and "GVOZDIKA55" (11th) and after another short stretch on the bubble "Enon" was eliminated in 10th and they were finally in the money.

Scott "gunning4you" Seiver was on a short stack as the bubble burst, and hung on a short while longer before was eliminated in ninth ($12,400) in a hand versus Sorel "zangbezan24" Mizzi. About a half-hour after, "K_0_S_T_Y_A" finished in eighth (also $12,400) after running out of chips in a hand versus Dan "djk123" Kelly.

The final seven played on, with "ibadbeatyou" on top and Bryn "BrynKenney" Kenney the short stack. Kenney managed to win a couple of hands, however, and it was Mizzi who came one spot shy of the final table after being eliminated by "ibadbeatyou," also earning $12,400 for his finish.

Just as they reached the eight-hour break, the final table had begun. Here's how the stacks looked with six left:

SeatPlayerChips
1treezer24,449
2Bryn "BrynKenney" Kenney27,177
3valesco51,273
4MaiseE41,847
5ibadbeatyou109,704
6Dan "djk123" Kelly55,550

It would take a little over a half-hour for the next elimination to come. With the stakes 1,600/3,200, "treezer" raised from under the gun, Kelly three-bet from the big blind, "treezer" reraised all-in for 6,049 total, and Kelly called. "treezer" had Q?J? and Kelly A?8?. The board came 10?7?6?6?2?, meaning Kelly's hand had held and "treezer" was out in sixth.

"MaiseE" was the next to fall into the danger zone with less than 8,000 (just two-and-a-half big bets), and soon would be in for 4,800 of that before the flop after raising, getting three-bet by Kelly from the small blind, and calling. The flop came 5?6?K?, and "MaiseE" called Kelly's bet. The turn was the 2?, and when Kelly bet again "MaiseE" called with the 1,482 remaining. Kelly had A?9? for ace-high, but was barely good against "MaiseE"'s A?8?. The river brought the K?, and "MaiseE" was out in fifth.

The final four marched on, with "ibadbeatyou" building a big lead over the others with more than 200,000 when no one else had more than 85,000. Kenney then became short-stacked, and after he and "ibadbeatyou" capped the betting preflop, more bets following the 2?3?6? flop put Kenney all-in with K?10? against the A?Q? of "ibadbeatyou." No help came for Kenney and they were down to three.

Just three minutes later, Kelly opened (for 4k) from the button, "ibadbeatyou" three-bet from the big blind and then called when Kelly capped. The flop came 10?10?K?, "ibadbeatyou" bet, and Kelly called with the 161 he had left, showing A?3?, "ibadbeatyou" had K?4? for two pair, and the 8? turn and 3? river ended Kelly's quest for another SCOOP watch, sending him out in third.

Heads-up play began with "ibadbeatyou" still leading with 215,884 to "valesco's" 94,116. The pair ultimately battled for more than a half-hour, with "ibadbeatyou" gradually whittling "valesco" down to less than 10,000. Finally "valesco" was all-in before the flop with 8?5? against "ibadbeatyou"'s K?3?, and when the board rolled out 4?2?K?A?4?, "ibadbeatyou" of Taiwan had claimed all of the chips and the title.

Departing from the final table first was "Martin "M. Staszko" Staszko." At 400/800/100, he shoved under the gun for 11,737. "WeakyLeeks" looked him up with A?A?J?10?. Staszko tabled A?A?8?2?, but fell when the board came down K?J?10?7?Q?, giving "WeakyLeeks" Broadway.

Luke "lb6121" Schwartz also busted against "WeakyLeeks," this one coming at 500/1,000/125. Action folded to Schwartz in the hijack and he jammed for 13,588. "WeakyLeeks" called from the big blind with A?9?7?3?, defeating the A?Q?Q?2? of Schwartz when the board ran out 5?4?2?K?10? to give "WeakyLeeks" a wheel.

Despite notching those two elimination, "WeakyLeeks" exited in sixth place. The chips went in on an 8?6?2? flop and "WeakyLeeks" held A?A?3?2? for the nut low. "plplaya" was drawing heavy with A?7?4?3? for the nut low along with straight and flush outs. The 3? turn was awful for "WeakyLeeks" and the 5? was even worse, giving "plplaya" a wheel to scoop the pot.

Ami "UhhMee" Barer was the next to fall, doing so at 700/1,400/175. His last 10,758 made it into the pot with A?K?6?3? against the Q?4?3?2? of chip leader "plplaya." The board ran out A?10?6?10?J? to give "plplaya" a flush, eliminating Barer.

At 800/1,600/200, John "dagunman" O'Shea busted after calling all-in for 26,498 with A?{Qg}J?5?. He was squaring off with "9Sandbagger9" who tabled J?J?3?2?. The board fell K?6?5?4?10? as "9Sandbagger9" made a straight to scoop the pot and score the knockout.

The remaining three players discussed a deal and were able to come to terms. Shortly thereafter, Magnus "Giffordonian" Martin fell in third place. He three-bet shoved from the big blind for 45,980 holding A?Q?8?3?. "plplaya" tabled A?7?5?4? and managed to scoop the pot when the board ran out 10?8?6?3?2? with a straight.

That elimination gave "plplaya" 249,366 to "9Sandbagger9's" 215,634 to start heads-up play before going on to win it. After grinding "9Sandbagger9" down to less than 100,000, "plplaya" closed it out at 1,000/2,000/250. "9Sandbagger9" opened to 4,000 under the gun and upon seeing "plplaya" shove, "9Sandbagger9" called all-in for 70,868 with A?9?3?3?. It was A?K?10?2? that got the job done for "plplaya" when the board fell K?J?4?6?4?.
