WSOP What To Watch For: Can Lisandro Prove He's the Best Stud Player Ever?
The 2012 World Series of Poker will host one final on Tuesday: and that will be Event 10: $5,000 Seven Card Stud. With 16 players remaining, this edition of the PokerNews WSOP What To Watch For focuses on Jeff Lisandro, Mike Sexton, Eugene Katchalov and a few other familiar faces.
Lisandro Aims to Prove He's the Best Stud Player Ever
Jeff Lisandro has received numerous awards, including five WSOP gold bracelets. Of those five pieces of jewelry, four come from seven-card stud variants. In 2009 alone, he won three gold bracelets, all in stud games en route to winning WSOP Player of the Year.
He's back in contention for another final table and another shot at a stud bracelet in Event #10. Heading into Day 3, Lisandro leads the final 16 players and it would be absolutely unworldly if he could once again win another stud bracelet.
Sexton Showing He's Still Got It
Age doesn't seem to be a factor for Sexton as he once again finds himself in the money in a WSOP event this year. Already, Sexton has cashed in Event 3: $3,000 Heads-Up No-Limit Hold'em/Pot-Limit Omaha and Event 4: $1,500 Seven Card Stud Hi-Low 8-or-Better. Oh, and did we mention at one point he was two-tabling those two events?
Sexton's only WSOP gold bracelet came from 1989 in the $1,500 Seven Card Stud event, meaning he is no slouch in the game of stud. It will be very interesting to watch his run on Day 3 as he works toward his second gold bracelet. It's also important to note that Sexton will be moving up on the WSOP Player of the Year leaderboard with this result.
Katchalov Looks to Win Second Bracelet
Last year, Katchalov won the $1,500 Seven Card Stud event for his first gold bracelet. He's proven over the years that he's able to play all the games well and with this performance, his consistency really shows. He'll be going for bracelet number two and is in a great position to give it a shot as he's second overall in chips.
Vinh and Goldman Head for Another Stud Final Table
Just a couple of days ago, Huu Vinh and Lee Goldman were at the final table for Event 7: $1,500 Seven Card Stud. They finished in fifth and sixth place, respectively, and could make a second appearance at a stud final table within a few days if they're able to fend off eight more eliminations.
