2012 WSOP

Last Saturday, Day 2 of the 2012 World Series of Poker National Championship saw the remaining 39 players of a 157-entrant field return to battle down to a final table. It was a relatively quick day as 21 players hit the rail empty handed and 10 more followed with respectable paydays. With that said, only eight were fortunate to make Wednesdays final table.

Among them is David ODB Baker, who has already had quite the summer after winning his first gold bracelet in Event #37: $2,500 Eight Game Mix for $271,312 and making two other finals tables, not to mention a 10th-place finish in the $50,000 Poker Players Championship. Unfortunately, Baker begins the National Championship final table on the short stack, so hell face an uphill battle.

Also at the final table are WSOP Circuit regulars Amanda Musumeci, Huy Nguyen and Yung Andy Hwang, all of whom qualified for the tournament through an At-Large Bid, which means they accumulated enough points on this years WSOP Circuit. Likewise, WSOP Play of the Year qualifiers Sam Stein and Matt Keikoan, who paid $10,000 each to play, are alive and well, as are Harrah's St. Louis Casino Champ Nikolas Stone and Caesars AC Main Event Champ Ryan Eriquezzo.

The final table will be filmed for ESPN broadcast on August 7, but of course PokerNews will be providing you live updates right from the Rio.
