PokerNews MSPT Season 4 Kicks Off at Running Aces Harness Park
The PokerNews Mid-States Poker Tour will be back at one of the tour's favorite venues in February to kick off Season 4 �� Running Aces Harness Park in Columbus, Minnesota. Just a half hour from the Minneapolis-St.Paul International Airport and 20 minutes north of the metro area, Running Aces is one of the top Midwest card rooms with a variety of games and some remarkable player promotions.
Last year's event at Running Aces generated a prize pool of $309,600, which was a record at the time. If the record-setting trend continues, a prize pool approaching $400,000 and a first-place prize of $100,000 or more is very much a possibility.
Running Aces has become widely known for its player promotions, including aces cracked, money added to tournaments, bad-beat jackpots and $5 per hour paid to players in cash for most poker games. The tournament will take place in a beautiful atrium with floor-to-ceiling windows and table service for meals and drinks.
Last year's winner, Rodger Johnson from North Dakota, will be back to defend his title. Also, the MSPT can be sure that runner-up, and 2012 Minnesota Poker Magazine Player of the Year Erick Wright will be back to avenge his second-place finish in last season's event.
This season��s series at Running Aces will boast a number of tournaments including added money and a freeroll for two $1,100 Main Event seats.
Satellites and qualifiers for the Main Event will start on Feb. 9, 2013, and run daily through the Feb. 16. The Main Event will have two starting days: Day 1a on Friday, Feb. 15, and Day 1b on Saturday, Feb. 16. Both days will start at 5 p.m. CST. Day 2 will start at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 17.
Event planners expect the final table to be reached at approximately 6 p.m. Sunday evening. This final table will broadcast on PokerNews.com with a 15-minute delay allowing viewers at home to see every players�� hole cards. The PokerNews Mid-States Poker Tour has announced a full schedule for 2013, including at least 14 events in six states. Prize money awarded for Season IV may reach $3 million �� a new single-season record for the MSPT.
