The Australia New Zealand Poker Tour continued on Friday at Crown Perth in Western Australia with Day 2 action of the ANZPT Perth Main Event. At the beginning of the day, 108 players hoped to make Day 3 and into top the 24 money-paying positions. By the time it was all over, only 33 remained, with James Broom leading the way. Broom's 317,300-chip stack will see him best prepared to burst into the money on Day 3 and in good position to make the final table.

Many well-known players from around the region and world hit the rail on Day 2. Among the casualties were both remaining Team PokerStars Pros, Bryan Huang and Angel Guillen. Huang was short on Day 2 and couldnt catch the cards he needed when he jammed preflop holding Qx8x and ran into AxJx of an opponent. Guillen suffered a similar fate to Huang when his AxQx couldnt improve when he was all-in preflop against a player's 10?10?.

Some of the others eliminated on Day 2 were Michael Guzzardi, Monica Eastick, Melanie Weisner, and Day 1 chip leader Jessie McKenzie.

McKenzie had a rough start on Day 2 and never really recovered. His final hand began when he opened with 5x5x, and Emanuel Seal defended out of the blinds. On the K?4?5? flop, Seal checked and McKenzie led for 3,600. Seal check-jammed here and McKenzie called off his last 25,000 in chips holding a set of fives. Seal held Kx3? and McKenzie seemingly only had to worry about the spades. However, it was actually a 6x turn and a 7x river that gave Seal a straight to send McKenzie home.

Several players were in contention to finish as chip leader toward the end of the night, but prominent Australian poker pro James Broom was the one who bagged the most chips. Close on his heels are Pawel Zawadowicz, Kent Hunter and Iori Yogo.

Plenty of other notable players will join Broom on Day 3, including Ricky Kroesen, Dale Marsland, Ivan Zalac, Seal and David Gorr.
