American Casino & Entertainment Properties (ACEP) recently celebrated the official launch of free-to-play online poker site acePLAYpoker.com with the first Charity Championship Tournament at the Stratosphere Casino Hotel and Tower in Las Vegas.

Hosted by Megan Olivi from Fox Sports, the no-limit hold'em charity poker tournament raised $5,000 to be donated to the winner's charity of choice. Among the celebrities in attendance were poker pros Liz Lieu and Tony Dunst, two-time UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir, BMX pros Ricardo Laguna and TJ Lavin, Bellator Ring Girl Jade Bryce, Stratosphere Casino Headliner and 2011 Playmate of the Year Claire Sinclair, and Pawn Stars star Chum Lee.

Here's episode 1 of the acePLAYpoker Celebrity Championship, with hand win percentages presented by PokerNews:

acePLAYpoker.com launched on Feb. 12 and uses the Ongame poker software, an internationally tested platform recently acquired by Bally Technologies. Before it was sold by Bwin.Party, Ongame was among the five most active online poker offerings in the world in terms of real-money cash-game traffic.

The new website allows players the opportunity to play free online poker 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The site provides online players with exclusive promotions, including show tickets to critically acclaimed shows at the iconic Stratosphere Casino, which is owned by ACEP. Other prizes include opportunities to experience Stratospheres thrill rides at the top of the tower, including SkyJump, a controlled free fall from 108 floors above the Las Vegas Strip.

With the launch of this free to play website, we can now bring the excitement of play found at our properties to anyone with Internet access, no matter their location, said Alec Driscoll, director of gaming development for ACEP. We are also positioning ACEP and acePLAYpoker.com for the potential approval of legalized online gaming.

Earlier this month, ACEP was one of three licensed online gaming companies to receive a six-month extension to complete its technology testing ahead of real-money gaming in Nevada. The company intends to use its new free-to-play site to build its brand and customer base in the Silver State.
