Police Investigate Cada's Poker Bar

Following an investigation by the Michigan Liquor Control Commission and the Sterling Heights Police Department, arrest warrants have been requested for the owners of Cada's Sports Bar and Grill, an establishment that was opened in 2011 by poker pro Joe Cada and his father, Jerry.

The poker-themed sports bar located in Cada's hometown of Sterling Heights, Michigan, was voluntarily closed this month while the business was under investigation for selling liquor without a license. A nine-count misdemeanor warrant package was recently submitted for Joe's father, Jerry, and co-owner Patrick [Removed:349].

Joe Cada isn't listed as one of the owners of the bar, but he did have a large role in the 2011 launch. During an appearance on the PokerNews Podcast last June, Cada said he chose a charity poker bar as a business venture after Black Friday because he wanted to combine his love of poker and sports.

The Cadas purchased a bar that already owned a charity poker license, enabling them to offer charity poker games inside the property.

"It's something that I'm learning as I go along," Cada told PokerNews' Rich Ryan on the podcast. "I've never been in a position to own a bar."

Joe Cada recently set up a second residence in Canada to resume his online poker career. As a Michigan resident, Cada is only a 45-minute drive from the Canadian border, and he has spent much of his time there to play at PokerStars. He has not commented on the recent developments at his bar.
