2013 WSOP Main Event Day 6: Glazier Falls While Morgenstern Leads Final 27

Over a week ago, the 2013 World Series of Poker $10,000 Main Event began with 6,352 players and is now down to the final 27. Day 6 saw 68 players return to action, but after five two-hours levels of play, less than half of them remain in contention for a coveted spot in this year��s November Nine.

The man best positioned to make it is Germany��s Anton Morgenstern, who is the current chip leader with 21,955,000 after getting a nice boost to his stack in the final hand of the night.

Others still in contention include two-time bracelet winner JC Tran (11,970,000); 2001 WSOP Main Event champ Carlos Mortensen (10,790,000); WSOP bracelet winners Amir Lehavot (7,385,000) and Rep Porter (2,675,000); World Poker Tour Season VII $25,000 World Champ Yevgeniy Timoshenko (5,310,000); Canadians Jason Mann (7,505,000), Alexander Livingston (5,800,000) and Marc McLaughlin (5,415,000); online legend David ��Raptor�� Benefield (1,840,000); and last year��s ninth-place finisher Steve Gee (3,160,000), who is looking not only for redemption, but to become the first player since Dan Harrington to make back-to-back Main Event final tables.

Day 6 kicked off with a bang when Noah Schwartz ran kings into Jay Farber��s aces on the first hand of the day, which took place in Level 26 (25,000/50,000/5,000). Not long after, Tyler Cornell became the day��s first elimination when he ran jacks into queens to send him packing in 68th place for $102,102. Over the next two hours, Cornell would find company on the rail as Simon Ravnsbaek (67th - $102,102), Yann Dion (66th - $102,102), Corrie Wunstel (65th - $102,102), Marc Emond (64th - $102,102), Cero Zuccarello (63rd - $123,597), Vladimir Geshkenbein (62nd - $123,597), Erkut Yilmaz (61st - $123,597), Andrea Dato (60th Place - $123,597), Steven Watts (59th - $123,597), Keanu Tabali (58th - $123,597) and Brendon O'Neal (57th - $123,597) all made their way to the payout desk.

After Robert Damelian fell in 56th Place for $123,597, one of the fan favorites, Brett Richey, fell to James Alexander. It happened in Level 27 (30,000/60,000/10,000) when Alexander raised to 140,000 from middle position and it folded around to Richey, who pushed his short stack all in from the big blind. Alexander snap-called with the A?A?, which was well out in front of Richey's K?Q?. The board ran out J?4?5?8?3? and the Rapping Richey was sent out in 55th place.

The eliminations continued at a steady pace throughout the rest of Level 27 and included Darryl Ronconi (54th Place - $151,063), Rachid Ben Cherif (53rd - $151,063), Noah Schwartz (52nd - $151,063), Jim Collopy (51st - $151,063), Sebastian Gohr (50th - $151,063), Oliver Price (49th - $185,694), Gaetano Preite (48th - $185,694) and Jaime Kaplan (47th - $151,063).

Kaplan's elimination occurred when Mark Newhouse raised to 120,000 from middle position and Chris Lindh called from the small blind. Kaplan came along from the big blind and the flop came down 8?9?2?, and then Lindh and Kaplan got the money in.

Kaplan was ahead with his set of deuces, but Lindh had outs with his flush draw. The K? completed the said flush, and the 6? river failed to pair the board.

Level 28 (40,000/80,0000/10,000) saw its fair share of busts including those of Vitaly Lunkin (46th - $151,063), David Stephens (45th - $185,694), Bryan Pellegrino (44th - $185,694), Phil Mader (43rd - $185,694), Jonathan Jaffe (42nd - $185,694), Josh Prager (41st - $185,694), Chris Kinane (40th - $185,694), start-of-the-day chip leader Sami Rustom (39th - $185,694) and Somar Al-Darwich (38th - $185,694).

After the dinner break, the final 37 players returned for Level 29 (50,000/100,000/10,000). Jack Amyx (37th - $185,694) was the first to go post-dinner, and he was followed out the door by Umang Dattani (36th Place - $229,281), Nicolas Le Floch (35th Place - $229,281), Byron Kaverman (34th - $229,281), Aleksejs Ponakovs (33rd - $229,281), Dan Owen (32nd - $229,281) and Jackie Glazier (31st - $229,281).

Glazier, who hails from Australia, was the last woman remaining in the Main Event but fell after she jammed her stack of 1,975,000 from the big blind after Sergio Castelluccio raised to 200,000 from middle position. Castelluccio called immediately.

The 9?9?9? flop added an extra out to Glazier's hand since a nine would make her quads with top kicker, but neither the 5? turn nor K? river helped her. With that, the hopes of a woman making the final table disappeared.

After the eliminations of Danard Petit (30th - $229,281), Philip Long (29th Place - $229,281) and George Wong (28th - $229,281), play was halted for the night.
