Global Poker Index: Shorr Climbing in POY, Duhamel Returns to Top 10 in GPI 300

Each week, the Global Poker Index releases a list of the top 300 tournament poker players in the world using a formula that takes a player's results over six half-year periods. The GPI also ranks the top performers of the year over two six-month periods as calculated by the USA Today Global Poker Index point system.

There was very little change within the top 10 of the 2013 POY race. Shannon Shorr leapfrogged Paul Volpe, landing at No. 4 with an eighth-place finish in a side event at the Masters Classics of Poker.

Like the POY race, Daniel Negreanu leads the GPI 300. At the bottom of the top 10, David ��Doc�� Sands moved up two spots to No. 8, Jason Mercier fell two spots to No. 10, and Jonathan Duhamel moved to three spots, replacing Sorel Mizzi in the top 10.

Duhamel recently finished 16th in a side event at the World Series of Poker Europe, while Sands won the $5,000 Festa al Lago at the Bellagio in September, pocketing $82,935.

David Boyaciyan, winner of the Season 8 European Poker Tour Prague Main Event, returned to the top 300 with a final table appearance at the Master Classics of Poker.

Also joining the GPI top 300 this week are Angel Guillen, and Jon ��PearlJammer�� Turner. Guillen finished 18th in a side event at the 2013 WSOPE, while Turner cashed in seven events at the 2013 WSOP.

Falling from the GPI this week are Jack Salter, Kristijonas Andrulis, Eric Froehlich, Grzegorz Derkowski, Matthias De Meulder, and Alexander Roumeliotis.

Making the biggest leap this week is Belarus�� Kiryl Radzivonau, who climbed 97 spots up to No. 197. Radzivonau has been grinding in Cyprus, making five final tables in November alone.

Salman Behbehani and Ari Engel also received big boosts. Behbehani has nearly a half a million dollars in earnings in 2013 alone, while Engel just won the Heartland Poker Tour River City Casino & Hotel for $142,125.

Taking the biggest hit this week is Australia��s Jonathan Karamalikis. Karamalikis, known better by his online moniker ��Monster Dong,�� only has six cashes in 2013 for a total of $274,487.
