Despite the iGaming critics, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie believes online gaming can produce $1 billion in casino revenue by July. Online gaming went live in the Garden State in late November and Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort, Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, Tropicana Casino and Resort, Ballys Atlantic City, Caesars Atlantic City, and Golden Nugget Atlantic City all have sites up and running.

According to NJ.com, analysts are estimating $300 million in revenue by this time next year; however, Christie remained optimistic at a Trenton statehouse press conference.

Same as they were before, Christie said of his expectations, which were outlined in a state budget that anticipated the industry would produce $1 billion in revenue by July. On Monday, Bloomberg reported thatover 14,000 new online gambling accounts were created in New Jersey over the weekend, bringing the total to 51,352 since the soft launch on Nov. 21.

Thats pretty good in a week, Christie said of the numbers. Im not worried.

The New Jersey Department of Gaming Enforcement is expected to release its first revenue report from online gaming in January.
