The story going into Day 3 was that of Laz Hernandez who was hot off of finishing as the chip leader ending both Day 1 and Day 2. Coming into the day, Hernandez had the largest stack but in the end he was unable to bag up at the end of the evening. Hernandez lost a solid chunk late in the day in a hand against Byron Kaverman. Soon after, the two clashed again at the 10,000/20,000/3,000 level.
Hernandez limped under the gun and Faraz Jaka raised to 80,000. Kaverman shipped all in for 396,000 from the cutoff and Hernandez called. Jaka threw his hand away and the cards were turned on their backs. Hernandez showed 4?4? and was racing with Kaverman's K?Q?. The board ran out A?8?6?Q?9? and Kaverman was able to double through Hernandez, leaving the one-time chip leader with just 15 big blinds.
Soon after, Hernandez was all in before the flop with A?2? against Kaverman's A?Q?. Kaverman put the nail in the coffin after a A?7?9?9?J? runout and Hernandez was sent packing from the tournament.
The top 120 players in the field were guaranteed money, and while many notables made it through the bubble they were unable to bag up at the end of the night. Some of the notable finishes included Aaron Massey (109th), Amnon Filippi (107th), DJ MacKinnon (81st), Dan O'Brien (80th), Robert Panitch (69th), Matt Affleck (65th), Isaac Baron (52nd), Harrison Gimbel (44th), and John Racener (38th).
While those players fell, others navigated their way through the stacked field and will return for Day 4. Notable names returning include recent WPT bestbet Jacksonville Fall Poker Scramble winner Jared Jaffee (2,340,000), Faraz Jaka (1,348,000), Eric Wasserson (1,210,000), Kaverman (997,000), Chad Brown (896,000), Ronit Chamani (807,000), John Holley (614,000), John D'Agostino (510,000, John DiBella (423,000), and Joe Serock (301,000).
