Season 2 of the Hollywood Poker Open will feature one of the most recognizable faces in poker. Ten years after winning the 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event, Chris Moneymaker will serve as the ambassador for the HPO brand and compete in various regional and local qualifying tournaments. He will participate in various events at Hollywood Casinos in Lawrenceburg, Ind.; St. Louis, Mo.; Charles Town, W. Va.; Columbus, Ohio; and culminating with the Championship Event at the M Resort Spa & Casino in Las Vegas in June 2014.
In addition to the Regional Tournament series, HPO properties will be running promotions whereby players can win a seat into the Championship Event at M Resort. You can qualify through Sunday Tournaments, and Free Roll Tournaments from now through May.
The inaugural Hollywood Poker Open Championship took place last June at the M Resort. The HPO held various qualifying events, sending over 200 players to Las Vegas with a seat into the Main Event. In the fist $2,500 HPO Championship Event ever held, it was Spains Ana Marquez who emerged victorious over the 631-player field. The event generated a total prize pool of $1,423,062, of which Marquez took home the top prize of $320,189.
On the winning hand, she flopped a set of jacks against runner-up finisher Ryan Tepens ace-king. I cant believe I won, everything was super perfect, said Marquez after taking down the Championship Event.
Other notables who cashed were Max Greenwood, Griffin Benger, Ryan DAngelo, and Mickey Petersen.
