WPT National Canadian Spring Championship Day 1b: Simon Quintal Takes Overall Lead
On Friday, Day 1b of the partypoker.net World Poker Tour National Canadian Spring Championship concluded with another 308 entrants taking to action. At the end of the day, 92 remained with Simon Quintal leading the way. Quintal bagged up 303,900 in chips, and that was good enough to take the overall chip lead after Eric Davis finished on 276,300 on Day 1a.
With a combined 527 entires after Day 1a and Day 1b, a field of nearly 500 will need to come to fruition on Day 1c in order for the WPT and the Playground Poker Club to achieve the $1,000,000 guarantee. Day 1c should be the largest of all three starting days.
Several notable names failed to make it through Day 1b, and some for the second time after also busting on Day 1a. Mike Sexton and Gavin Smith were two of those players failing for a second time, but they'll undoubtedly be back for a third try on Saturday. Antonio Esfandiari also busted a second time.
On the flip side of the coin, those who advanced included Mike Leah, Kara Scott, and Josh Kimmel, just to name a few. And while Quintal was the only player to amass over 300,000 in chips, Justin Miller (276,700), Francois Binette (258,700), and Joseph Verdugo (240,500) all bagged up very hefty stacks to take to Day 2.
Day 1c will take place on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. ET. It will be the final of three starting flights. You can tune back into PokerNews for a recap following the completion of play.
