New Jersey Gaming Revenue Stumbles Despite Growth in Online Market 0001

New Jersey casinos saw a 15% boost in online gambling revenue in March, but it wasn't enough the overcome the unremitting decline of Atlantic City's brick-and-mortar operations.

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) released its monthly report on Monday, showing that the state's casinos generated $11.9 million in online gambling revenue last month, an increase of $1.6 million over February's totals. Online poker produced $3.2 million in March, a slight bump above the $3.1 million brought in the month prior.

Meanwhile, online casino revenue has grown every month since the market launched in November. The casino division generated $8.6 million in revenue in March, compared to $7.2 million in February. The Internet gambling win consisted of $3.2 million in peer-to-peer win and $8.7 million in other authorized games, according to the filing.

Total gaming win from the 11 casino hotels and Internet gaming operations was $233.4 million in March 2014, a 2.2% decline compared to the $238.5 million in casino win for March 2013. That 2013 number includes the Atlantic Club, which closed its doors in January.

Borgata continued to lead the marketplace with $4,395,734 in total Internet win last month, according to the DGE report. Caesars Interactive remained in second with a monthly win of $3,716,873. Borgata/partypoker and Caesars' WSOP-branded online poker room also remain the top two in New Jersey's online poker market.

The DGE report says that nearly 292,000 Internet gambling accounts are registered in New Jersey after more than 50,000 were created in March.
