Poker Superstar Phil Ivey Scores $500,000 Win in Two Days Online
Although the first four months of the year may not have gone exactly as he wanted, profits of $410,341 for Phil "Polarizing" Ivey put together between Monday and Wednesday are indeed what he has been looking for to get his name back on top of the list of online poker's biggest winners.
Most of Ivey's profits came on Tuesday, when he closed as the day's biggest winner, bringing home a $441,380 payday after 835 hands played in six different sessions.
Most of his winnings on Tuesday came during a session played in the late morning at the $1,500/$3,000 8-game tables. There, he faced such opponents as Patrik "FinddaGrind" Antonius, Alexander "PostflopAction" Kostritsyn, Viktor "Isildur1" Blom, and Chun Lei "samrostan" Zhou for a total of 188 hands and a profit of $235,500.
After a quick break, things started to go well again for Ivey, as later during the same day he managed to win $152,000 against Sweden's Blom playing heads up.
Things stayed on the positive side, albeit with less remarkable numbers, on Wednesday, when Ivey played a total of 695 hands in four sessions for an overall profit of $74,357. Despite the positive start, which makes him the second online biggest winner of the week with an overall profit of $410,341, Ivey is still down close to $2.3 million since the beginning of 2014.
Besides Ivey, American player Hac "trex313" Dang had some very good reasons to celebrate his results this week, as he managed to put together winnings worth $513,724 since last Monday getting on the top of the list of the biggest winners.
Following exactly the same pattern as Ivey, Dang started the week with a loss for $44,167, but he got back on track on Tuesday collecting winnings for $346,394 and then added on Wednesday when he closed as the day's biggest winner with a profit of $211,512 after 491 hands.
Here's a look at Dang's results over the last seven days:
On the opposite side of the spectrum, Full Tilt Poker's Blom and Gus Hansen have had a terrible week so far. The two Scandinavians sit on top of this week's biggest losers list, with losses for $379,680 and $312,799, respectively.
Blom started the week with a positive $128,205 win, but then reached the top of the rankings closing as the biggest loser of the day both on Tuesday (-$257,845) and Wednesday (-250,040). Blom's negative results put him on top of May's biggest losers list, with a total loss of $849,114.
Despite some encouraging results seen earlier last week, Hansen went back to the minus side. The Danish player collected losses for $118,212 on Monday and for $194,587 on Tuesday after he played a total of 1,207 hands in 16 sessions.
