Kirsty Thompson is one of the most popular and respected people in poker. Credited with the creation of the ever-popular UKIPT series (not to mention being instrumental in taking the UKIPT and PokerStars into parts previously unknown), Thompson has been given a new role within the company.

Partypoker Releases a New Smartphone App
Partypoker has created a new app that is for use with its Fast Forward poker �� its version of fast-fold poker. Instead of the traditional way of using an app where players tap the screen, on this one they have to swipe, something partypoker says could revolutionize mobile poker.

Genting Poker Series Heads to Newcastle For Leg 5 of 2014
The Genting Poker Series took a break while the 2014 World Series of Poker was taking place, but made its return on Thursday in Newcastle. When the tour was last in Newcastle, Ellie Biessek won the Main Event and became the first-ever female champion of the series.

Sunday Briefing: Chris ��bluecheek�� Moore Wins the 888poker $100K Mega Deep
Chris "bluecheek" Moore was one of the UK's biggest winners on Sunday when he took down the $100,000 Mega Deep tournament at 888poker. Every week or so, it seems one of the Brits wins a Sunday major at one of the biggest sites.

Robbie Bull and Ben Spraggons Are UK��s Latest P5 Triple Crown Winners
Our friends at PocketFives award a Triple Crown to any player who wins three tournaments on three different sites within a week, which is very difficult to do. Try telling Ben Spraggons and Robbie Bull that it is hard and they may laugh in your face, though.
Spraggons won his second Triple Crown a couple of weeks ago, while Bull won the second-largest Triple Crown of 2014.

Dermot Blain is the man at the top of the Irish Global Poker Index and its Player of the Year standings, too. But, the chasing pack have all added many points over the past few weeks and are starting to mount a charge for Blain's lofty position.

Johnson, Beresford, Milde and Grafton Climb Up the UK Online Rankings
The UK online poker rankings received a shuffle this week with a number of players climbing up the leaderboard and some new faces in the top 20.
Christopher Johnson moved up to third in the standings, and Conor Beresford entered the top 10. Both Marcin Milde and Sam Grafton returned to the top 20.
