A little more than a month ago, Bren "YaAaRny" Lenton began a challenge to win 100 buy-ins at pot-limit Omaha cash games in 31 days, at stakes of $5/$10 or higher.

Lenton had $100,000 of his own money on the line at two-to-one odds with the rules stated below.

  • All hands to be played on PokerStars or Full Tilt Poker
  • At least 70,000 hands must be played
  • Hands at heads-up tables do not count
  • Heads-up is allowed at six-max or full ring tables
  • Stakes will be $5/$10 or higher and Zoom Poker is allowed
  • He has 31 days from the hours he first plays a hand.
  • If someone in his immediate family dies, the bet is cancelled
  • He has to win 100 buy-ins, with one buy-in being 100 big blind
  • The bet is over and deemed won if he at any point crosses 100 buy-ins of profit
  • Three judges have been put in place to settle any disputes
  • If the legality of poker in the UK changes or his PokerStars account is blocked for any reason other than his own fault then the bet is off
  • Unforeseen acts of God allow him one week to relocate

Lenton looked to be in good shape to win the bet with just a few days remaining when won more than 8,000 big blinds over the course of 185,000 hands. But fate wasn't on Lenton's side and he lost the prop bet when the tides turned with a humongous downswing of 7,000 big blinds over the next 15,000 hands.

Lenton Wins Even When He Loses

While Lenton's opponents may be laughing all the way to the bank after winning the prop bet, Lenton still banked a $107,000 profit thanks to about $112,000 in profit via ring games during the challenge. He also pocketed a huge cash prize for $55,499 in a World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) event, and racked up about $40,000 worth of FPPs.

Lenton also ran fairly hot during the challenge when it counted the most. He won more $154,000 over expectation while playing $25/$50 alone! Here is a look at how Lenton performed during the challenge.
