Dan Colman

The poker world was introduced to Dan Colman in April when he won the European Poker Tour Grand Final 100,000 Super High Roller for 1,539,300. Since then, Colman has strung together one of the most dominant runs in poker history.

Colman, who won the World Series of Poker $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop in July and then finished runner-up in the EPT Barcelona 50,000 Super High Roller last month, added $1,446,710 more to his yearly winnings on Wednesday when he bested a field of 1,499 to win the $5,300 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open.

The 23-year-old pro outlasted a tough final table that included Joe Kuether, Shawn Cunix, John Dolan, and Mike Leah, whom Colman defeated heads-up to claim his jaw-dropping fourth seven-figure score of 2014.

Colman now has more than $20,000,000 in cashes since April and has climbed past Phil Ivey into third on poker's all-time list behind Daniel Negreanu and Antonio Esfandiari.

3Shawn Cunix$748,313
4John Dolan$548,763
5Joe Kuether$424,044
6Martin Hanowski$324,269

Colman entered Wednesday's final table second in chips behind Leah, but it didn't take long for him to take command of the table. After Dolan eliminated Martin Hanowski in sixth place, Colman got all of Kuether's chips. After Kuether limped the button, Colman raised to 525,000 from the small blind and Kuther called. On the J?5?3? flop, Colman bet 500,000 and Kuether moved all in. Colman called instantly with the A?A? and was in front of Kuether's J?9?. The 5? turn and 6? completed the board to keep Colman's overpair in front and eliminate Kuether in fifth place for $424,044.

Dolan exited a few hands later, and again it was Colman who handled the dirty work. Dolan limped from the small blind and Colman checked his option from the big blind to see a 9?8?4? flop. Both players checked and the 2? arrived on the turn. Dolan check-called a bet of 700,000, bringing the 3? on the river. Dolan checked again and Colman moved all in, putting Dolan to a decision for his tournament life. Dolan ultimately decided to toss in a call, and Colman ripped over the 6?5? for a rivered straight. Dolan, a former WSOP November Niner, collected $548,763 for his fourth-place finish in this one.

The lead shifted back into Leah's favor during three-handed play, but Colman reclaimed the pole position after eliminating Cunix in third place. With the blinds at 100,000/200,000/25,000, Colman raised to 450,000 from the button, Cunix called from the small blind and Leah three-bet to 1,400,000 out of the big blind. Colman called, and Cunix elected to reraise and commit a total of 5,875,000 for his tournament life. Leah reluctantly folded, and Colman called.

Cunix: K?7?
Colman: A?10?

Cunix was drawing live, but his hopes were dashed when the flop rolled out A?10?9? to give Colman two pair. Cunix picked up a straight draw on the Q? turn, but the 8? river sent him to the rail in third place for $748,313.

Colman took 25,450,000 into heads-up play against Leah's 19,550,000. The heads-up sit-and-go specialist once again showed off his impressive knack for closing the deal, grinding Leah down to 11,500,000 before finishing him off for good. Leah opened to 600,000 and Colman three-bet to 1,500,000. Leah moved all in, and Colman snap-called with the best of it.

Leah: Q?J?
Colman: A?K?

The board ran out an uneventful 4?3?2?10?K?, and Colman secured his third major title of 2014 along with a $1,446,710 payday. Leah, meanwhile, pocketed the biggest score of his career and was very gracious in defeat.
