Mid-States Poker Tour Continues This Week at Potawatomi Casino in Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Season 5 of the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) continues this week at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This marks the first time the tour has visited the luxurious property, and already expectations are this weekends $1,100 Main Event will set a new state record, surpassing the 393 entries from Marchs stop at Ho-Chunk Gaming Wisconsin Dells.
Were excited to be heading to Potawatomi Hotel Casino for the first time, said MSPT owner and operator Bryan Mileski. The venue is among the best in the state, and with a brand new hotel, Potawatomi is the perfect place for a premiere poker tournament. It should be a fun weekend.
Likewise, Jeff Gemini, Poker Room Manager at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, echoed those sentiments: "Players are very excited. Our satellite tournaments have been very successful up to this point and players cant wait for the main event weekend to see the crowd and amount of players that will be here playing."
Numbers have been strong for both the $65 and $250 qualifiers. On Wednesday, Sept. 3, a $65 buy-in qualifier will be held at 1:00 p.m., which will see 20% of the field advance to a $250 qualifier. Then, at 6:30 p.m., a $250 qualifier will be held. 20% of that field will win a seat into the Main Event. Likewise, $250 qualifiers will be held at 12:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, while two more last-chance qualifiers will be held at 9:30 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday. You can check out the full schedule of qualifiers by clicking here.
The conveniently located MSPT Potawatomi, which is just minutes from General Mitchell International Airport, is expected to draw extensively from the Wisconsin poker market, as well as nearby Illinois, Iowa, and Minnesota. Three players that have already confirmed their attendance are Wisconsin businessman and poker aficionado Larry Ormson, online poker pro Brandon oncommand Meyers, and World Series of Poker Circuit ring winner Chad Graves.
Of course PokerNews will be live reporting the Main Event, which will be held over three days beginning Friday evening with Day 1a at 4 p.m. Saturday's Day 1b will also start at 4 p.m. and play 14 levels. Players who advance from Day 1a are not eligible to play in Day 1b. The remaining players from each flight will combine on Sunday morning at 10 a.m. and play until a champion is crowned. The Main Event final table will be broadcast live (15-minute delay) worldwide using RFID technology allowing all viewers to see the hole cards.
