World Poker Tour Championship Returning to Atlantic City in 2015
The World Poker Tour will be expanding its presence in the Garden State even further in Season XIII. On Monday, the tour announced that Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, NJ will play host to four separate WPT events over the next eight months, including the season-ending WPT World Championship on April 24, 2015.
"As a long-standing partner of the World Poker Tour with an unparalleled tournament staff, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is the perfect venue to host four televised WPT events in Season XIII," said WPT President Adam Pliska. "We are thrilled to return to Borgata for the season-ending WPT World Championship after a successful transition in Season XII, and with the ability to generate massive prize pools, draw the biggest names in poker, and qualify players to events on both partypoker.com and BorgataPoker.com, we expect to see three tremendous Main Events in Atlantic City this season."
After the first 11 seasons of the WPT culminated with the WPT Championship at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, the tour shifted gears in Season XII by moving the tournament to Atlantic City. The event boasted a $5 million guarantee with a $15,400 buy-in �� reduced from $25,500 �� and attracted a total of 328 entries. Keven Stammen went on to take home the title and the $1.35 million top prize.
The WPT announced on Monday that partypoker.com and BorgataPoker.com will again serve as the official sponsors of the Season XIII WPT World Championship as well as the other televised events at Borgata. The WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open, WPT World Championship and WPT Monster Invitational will generate a total of 11 hours of television coverage on FSN in Season XIII.
