PokerStars Forced to Take Casino Games Down in Spain

Online gamblers in Spain found a bitter surprise under their Christmas trees during the holidays as PokerStars was forced to take blackjack and roulette games off the 'dot-es' platform.

The decision was caused due to the inability of players to access their blackjack and roulette game history straight from the rooms client as required by the Spanish gambling regulation.

As PokerFuse reports, the room sent a note to players announcing the decision to put the casino games on hold.

"We are removing blackjack and roulette casino games from the PokerStars.es software," the note explained. "This is necessary to fix a minor technical issue whereby blackjack hand histories are not available to all players from directly within the software, as required."

PokerStars reassured the players by explaining that the technical issue that caused the block of blackjack and roulette games did not affect the integrity of the games played on the platform.

The room also added that the games will become available again once the technical issues are solved. According to PokerStars, this could happen before the end of January.

"The issue resulted in no negative impact on the playing experience nor the integrity of our games," PokerStars wrote in an email sent to the player registered to its Spanish site.

"Nevertheless, we are taking these steps to ensure that our software is 100% compliant with all relevant requirements. Blackjack and roulette will return as soon as possible, likely in a matter of weeks."

Spanish players were the first to be able to play casino games at PokerStars after the room launched its first blackjack and roulette tables in October 2014 thanks to the license obtained by Reel Plc., the poker rooms subsidiary in Spain.
