Viktor "Isildur1" Blom Loses Over $600,000 in a Few Days

The first month of the new year witnessed online poker's nosebleed ring-game action take place on both PokerStars and Full Tilt.

While PokerStars has always had its share of action, the nosebleed games in recent years have typically been dominated by Full Tilt, the site that hosted the 50 biggest hands of 2014.

As has been the case throughout 2015, we have witnessed in the past few days some exciting high stakes action on both PokerStars and Full Tilt.

The biggest winner under one site name in the last few days was Russian poker phenom Alexander "joiso" Kostritsyn, who won $277,658 from Jan. 18 to Jan. 21 in 33 sessions and 2,647 hands according to the HighStakesDB.

Most of his action was at the high-stakes 2-7 triple draw tables against PokerStars Supernova Elite "EireAbu". Kostritsyn has been on a heater and could win $1 million this month, as he is already in the black for over $917,773 in January.

During the same Jan. 18 to Jan. 21 time frame, Viktor "Isildur1" Blom found himself as the year's biggest loser both by site and overall. Blom's biggest losses came on PokerStars where he lost $398,264 in 19 sessions and 2,014 hands. While this on its own makes Blom the biggest money loser in the nosebleed games over the past few days, he fared no better on Full Tilt where he was the period's fifth biggest loser with $216,314 in losses in 49 sessions and 4,790 hands. In total Blom lost $614,578 in 68 sessions and 6,804 hands.

Cort "thecortster" Kibler-Melby won $245,429 from Jan. 18 to Jan. 21 in 4 sessions and 1,144 hands mostly against "Trueteller" on the Full Tilt 2-7 triple draw tables. We are unsure how much Kibler-Melby is ahead on the year since he has opted out of long-term results being displayed on the HighStakesDB, but we do know he also had a good start to the year when he was the world's second biggest online cash game winner in the first five days of the month.

By no coincidence, "Trueteller" found himself as one of the biggest losers during this time period, dropping $237,353 on Full Tilt over 1,000 hands.

Ukraine's "LEXER1986" rounded out the top three winners from Jan. 18 to Jan. 21 with $150,179 in profit in seven sessions and 2,009 hands on PokerStars. "LEXER1986" was involved in a big hand against "bajskorven87" on the $50/$100 pot-limit Omaha heads when he flopped a set of eights against his opponent's huge draw. Although most of the betting was on the flop, LEXER1986 secured $39,956.34 pot when another eight appeared on the turn giving him an unbeatable four-of-a-kind.

This was not close to the biggest pot won during this time period, since money was just flying in a $200/$400 pot-limit Omaha heads-up match on PokerStars between "EireAbu" and "Ravenswood13". The biggest hand resulted in the two players splitting a huge $240,220 pot.

The duo was also involved in the second biggest pot with "Ravenswood13" shipping a $219,658.44 pot when he got action on his nut flush on a four-diamond board. Despite "Ravenswood13" shipping this pot, he was the second biggest loser from Jan. 18 to Jan. 21 with $238,073 in losses in 18 sessions and 4,787 hands.
