PokerStars Gets Closer to Start Operations in New Jersey 0001

Despite Morgan Stanley's pessimism about the future growth of the industry, something new could be about to hit the US poker market, as PokerStars announced that online players in New Jersey may soon be allowed to play their legal poker games at the world's biggest poker room.

Answering a question from an analyst, Amaya Inc.'s CEO David Baazov stated that he believes the company may finally get the possibility to get back to the US by Q3 2015. This is the first time Baazov went public with a precise timeframe for the restart of PokerStars' operations in the US.

"As it relates to New Jersey, I would say that we feel that this is coming," Baazov explained during a conference call on Tuesday. "We would expect to receive and launch in the [third] quarter of 2015."

According to the January report released by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE), the first month of 2015 has been a particularly good one for the online poker industry in New Jersey. The industry generated revenues of $11,567,337, representing an eight-percent increase from the $10,736,118 registered in December.

Many also expect that the arrival of PokerStars in the New Jersey online poker market may contribute to a further growth of the industry as the brand and the marketing activities usually adopted by the company could help the industry to attract new players and increase its liquidity.
