2015 Spring Championship of Online Poker Highlights 0001

The 2015 Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) concluded on Monday with Italy's Mustapha "lasagnaaammm" Kanit winning the $10,300 SCOOP High Main Event for $1,304,720.

This win added to an already amazing month for Kanit, since his latest victory was on the heels of shipping the EPT11 Grand Final 50,000 Super High Roller, for 936,500.

Running at the same time were the SCOOP-Medium $1,050 Main Event and SCOOP-Low $109 Main Event. Tom "tollgate" Grigg won the $1,050 event for $609,206.86 after agreeing to a heads-up deal with Canada's "Azn1nvas1on", while Republic of Macedonia's "apostolis20" won the $109 event after agreeing to a heads-up deal with Ukraine's "CrazySeyza", banking $203,176.89.

The 138-event SCOOP schedule was separated into 46 different event types. Each event type featured a low, medium, and high buy-in tournament, giving players of all stakes something to play on the schedule each and every day. With 569,089 total entrants, the SCOOP generated a breath-taking $76,530,051.72 in prizes awarded to the winners. This is almost twice the $40,000,000 prize pool that was guaranteed by PokerStars.

This year's SCOOP featured many great moments and achievements by some of the best players of the game.

Team PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier cashed in 22 different SCOOP events, appeared at a final table five times, and won three different titles. This amazing performance was good enough for Mercier to win the Overall Leaderboard Player of the Year, along with a 2016 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure package and $10,000 in cash. Russia's "vovtroy" came in second place on the leaderboard after cashing in 31 different events.

Calvin "cal42688" Anderson set a new record by winning his seventh SCOOP event. He was previously tied with Shaun "shaundeeb" Deeb with six SCOOP titles prior to the start of the poker festival. The duo are currently tied with seven overall COOP titles, which takes into account victories in the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP), Turbo Championship of Online Poker (TCOOP), and SCOOP.

Remarkably, seven players were able to win two different SCOOP events this year, including "dragonwarior", Luke "lb6121" Schwartz, "marek_heinz", Nicolas "niccc" Chouity, Woody "plplaya" Deck, Victor "Puropoker123" Lemos, and Michael "SirWatts" Watson.

2014 WCOOP Main Event winner Fedor "CrownUpGuy" Holz, Sorel "zangbezan24" Mizzi, Mohsin "sms9231" Charania, James "Andy McLEOD" Obst, Christopher "NigDawg" Brammer, Stefan "mindgamer" Jedlicka, Dzmitry "Colisea" Urbanovich, Sam "Str8$$$Homey" Greenwood, Emil "Maroonlime" Patel, and Ankush "pistons87" Mandavia were some of the other notable players to win a SCOOP event this year.

Players in Canada recorded the most SCOOP titles with 21, with players from the United Kingdom winning 15 different events. Players in Russia recorded both the most amount of entrants with 59,386 players and the most amount of players cashing at 7,841. Players in the United Kingdom also recorded the second highest amount of entrants with 53,308 and the second highest amount of players cashing at 7,003.

Congrats to everyone that cashed in this year's SCOOP.
