Robert Mizrachi Captures Third Gold Bracelet, Ties Brother Michael

Robert Mizrachi can look his brother Michael in the eye at the dinner table now.

Robert won Event #3: $1,500 Omaha Hi-Lo at the 2015 World Series of Poker for $255,022, defeating a field of 918 players to capture his third bracelet, tying him with his younger brother. If there's a sibling rivalry in play at all though, Robert wouldn't let on it.

"We just try to win as much as we can and play our best," he said. "We always root for each other. It's not really a rivalry."

Robert previously took down the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha event in 2007 for $768,889. He had to wait seven long years for his next WSOP gold, but he showcased impressive all-around poker skill to win the first ever Dealer's Choice event last year, beating out a field of 419 to bank $565,650. That seems to be a family trait, considering two of Michael's three bracelets have come in the $50,000 Poker Players Championship, also a mixed-game tournament.

Interestingly, when Robert won the Dealer's Choice event, he included a heavy dose of Omaha Hi-Lo in his game choice repertoire.

"Omaha is one of my best games for sure," he said. "I've been playing it forever, and I know how to pick my spots and put people on hands."

Robert's victory seemed all but assured on Day 3, scheduled to be the final day of the tournament. With things winding down late in the night and play down to three-handed, Robert held 4.5 million of 6.8 million total chips. Opponents Don Zewin, who was previously featured in PokerNews' popular Where Are They Now series, and Jacob Dahl seemed to be fighting for second place. After the elimination of Zewin, Robert continued to roll until he had 5.2 million. Dahl wouldn't go quietly though, turning things around and taking a 5-1 chip lead over the course of the final hour of the night before the players bagged to return and continue heads-up play on an unscheduled Day 4.

According to Robert, he was battling at less than 100 percent, and the night's end brought a welcome respite to allow him to recharge and recover.

"I've been sick for the last five or six days," he said. "I got really tired late last night, and I was probably a big favorite to lose. Today, I came in fresh. Playing for a lot of money and a bracelet, you've got to be totally focused."

Robert said his previous wins didn't lessen his excitement for this one.

"It's always a big deal winning a bracelet," he said. "We're poker players, it's what we dream of."

As for the rest of the series, Robert said he has his sights set squarely on a handful of tournaments the Poker Players Championship, the $10,000 Dealer's Choice tournament, the $25,000 PLO tournament, and of course the Main Event.

"The Main Event's my favorite. Your name's on the wall for life," he said.

Should he wind up heads up in any tournament with one of his brothers though, don't expect Robert to let up, even if it's one without a bracelet.

"It'd be nice if one of them won for sure, but if we're heads up, I'm not going to give it to 'em," he said with a laugh.
