UK & Ireland PokerNews Round-Up: Brammer Reclaims Top Ranking Spot
Another week has come and gone, and what a great week it's been for UK players. The current trend of British and Irish poker players excelling online and in the live arena continued, which you can read all about in this week's UK & Ireland PokerNews Round-Up.
Last week, Christopher "NigDawG" Brammer won the PokerStars Super Tuesday tournament and took home more than $100,000. That prize also gave him PocketFives.com. leaderboard points, where he was once ranked number one in the world.
While Brammer is a ways off the worldwide number one spot �� he's now 30th �� he has returned to the top of the United Kingdom's standings, which you can read about here.
Another player who has enjoyed plenty of success in the online poker tournament realm is Jon Spinks. Last Sunday, Spinks walked away with the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up title, an accolade that brought with it $63,170.84 in prize money. Not content with that score, Spinks went on to reach the final tables of two other Sunday Majors at partypoker and 888poker. As such, he has now reentered the top 20 of the UK online poker rankings.
Keeping with online poker, Andrew "UlDuffer" Sweeney, an Irish professional poker player from Tipperary, helped himself to what was the second-largest cash of his online career when he took fourth in the Super Tuesday for $37,360.00. Get details on his win here.
Into the live poker realm now where Miika Toikka was the last man standing in the massive 2015 Goliath, a tournament that had 4,120 entrants put up the ��100+��20 buy-in. Toikka emerged as a worthy winner and added a cool ��70,800 to his bank account, not to mention being written into the history books as the Goliath was the biggest European tournament ever held.
Also in the live poker world, Dusk Till Dawn and partypoker are gearing up for the inaugural Pokerfest Live festival. This series features more than ��620,000 of guaranteed prize pools, of which ��300,000 is guaranteed for the Main Event. Richard Gryko won the ��1,500+��150 buy-in High Roller on Thursday night, winning ��30,000 and taking his lifetime tournament winnings to nearly one million dollars.
