Damien Porebski Claims Redbet LIVE Dublin Day 1a Chip Lead
While the Mega Poker Series Dublin Main Event was busy reducing its field to the final table of nine, the Redbet LIVE Dublin Main Event got underway and saw 39 players choose Day 1a to begin their quest for glory.
A total of 17 players managed to overcome the dreaded variance of tournament poker to progress to Day 2, which takes place at midday on Sunday, Sept. 13. Topping the chip counts at the completion of Day 1a was Poland's Damien Porebski, who bagged and tagged 285,000 in chips, closely followed by Donal Kennedy on 237,000 and Daniel Chutrov with 201,300.
Day 1a Top 10 Chip Counts
Place | Player | Chips |
---|---|---|
1 | Damien Porebski | 285,000 |
2 | Donal Kennedy | 237,000 |
3 | Daniel Chutrov | 201,300 |
4 | Radoslaw Wesierski | 144,000 |
5 | Victor Petrakov | 133,400 |
6 | Thomas Meyler | 123,200 |
7 | Jesus Ramos | 115,600 |
8 | Rafal Kacmarski | 114,800 |
9 | Konstantin Kostyakov | 88,800 |
10 | Dermot Allen | 87,700 |
While there's a long way to go before a champion is crowned, Porebski will be quietly confident of being in contention for the title after his superb start on Day 1a. Porebski has a solid record in tournaments held in Ireland, and it was on the Emerald Isle that he secured his largest-ever live tournament cash, one worth 45,300 which he collected for his fifth-place finish in the 2013 UKIPT Galway Main Event.
Another man who should be brimming with confidence is Ireland's Donal Kennedy, thanks in part to him winning a large pot as Day 1a was finishing. Kennedy was involved in a three-way all-in clash involving Jesus Ramos and Glen Coroners. The latter held the A?3?, Ramos the K?Q?, and Kennedy the 10?9?.
The A?10?7? flop brought something for everyone with the 3? tightening Coroners' grip on the pot. However, the 5? fell on the river to improve Kennedy to a flush, gifting him the 237,000-chip pot, busting Coroners and chopping Ramos stack down to 115,600.
Daniel Chutrov, the 2015 Unibet Open Glasgow winner, always seems to be fast out of the blocks and Day 1a of this event was no different. The talented Bulgarian turned his starting stack into 201,300 chips and is one to watch out for as this 350 buy-in Main Event unfolds.
Day 1b of the Redbet LIVE Dublin festivities commences at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11 and for their 350 players receive a generous helping of 50,000 chips and get to enjoy a 40-minute clock. The third and final starting flight, which has the potential to be huge, kicks off at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12.
