Russian Poker Tour to Hit Minsk With $1,500,000 Grand Final on Sept. 17
Poker players in Europe are getting ready for one of the hottest festivals of the season, as the Russian Poker Tour (RPT) plans to throw one of the biggest poker events in Eastern Europe in 2015, taking place in Minsk, Belarus, from Sept. 17-27.
To be held at Casino Emir, the event aims to offer everyone the chance to enjoy poker, discover the beautiful capital of Belarus, and enjoy the amazing parties that made the RPT famous over the years.
"After the success of our last series in Minsk back in June, we didn't have to think too hard about where to hold the Grand Final," organizers of the event explained, after visiting other premium locations such as Montenegro and Cyprus. "We knew it had to be Minsk. Several months ago, while getting ready for the stage in Minsk, we didn't expect such a great interest to the series, especially as the World Series of Poker were running at the same time in Las Vegas. However, we had full house every day and all 43 tables were occupied by our guests regularly."
To celebrate the last tournament of the season, the RPT decided to prepare a 10-day schedule of action-packed poker that features 24 events. The main attractions of the festival will be an $1,100 Grand Final Event (Sept. 23-26) and a $550 Main Event (Sept. 17-21), for which the organizers expect no less than 700 players.
"The minimum expected prize pool is of $1,500,000," the RPT explained.
Other marquee events on the schedule include a $1,500 SuperStack Event, several Omaha tournaments, and a $300 Open-Face Chinese Poker Heads-Up Championship. Those looking for something more out of the ordinary will also have the opportunity to join one of RPT's famous Under Pressure Knockout events, $300 buy-in tournaments that run without any breaks until the final table is reached.
Besides the format, what makes the 'Under Pressure' events really unusual, is the location where those are held.
"The tournament will take place in a very 'high-pressure' location," the RPT explained.
Although the last event was held in a karaoke club, the organizers chose now to release the location of the event part of the Grand Final's calendar before the players will gather in Minsk.
"We are keeping the location a secret, even if there is something we can tell: if you are not ready for some true pressure, you'd better not take part to the event," they said.
The RPT have already announced some of the names that are expected to join the field for their Grand Final, as poker stars like Andrey Patechuk and Kirill Rodionov are both supposed to join the action in Minsk.
"We are sure that in September 2015 the Grand Final will host many more guests, including amateurs and pros who skipped the previous event in Minsk because they were in Las Vegas," organizers said.
