Terry Jordon made it two Pokerfest titles in a week by taking down the Pokerfest Live Main Event in the early hours of Monday morning at Dusk Till Dawn (DTD) in Nottingham, only days after winning the pot-limit Omaha side event.

Final Table Results

1Terry Jordon52,000

Jordon went into the final day second among the 33 players in chips with three million in chips, an impressive total aided by him busting Rupinder Bedi on the stone bubble the previous night. In that particular hand, Jordon looked dead and buried as his 10x10x ran into Bedis KxKx, but a third 10 on the turn saw Bedi bust.

There was a strange dynamic added to the final days play due to the Golden Chips promotion that many of the remaining players were part of. Players could earn up to five Golden Chips for grinding at partypoker in the run up to Pokerfest Live, and depending on how many of these chips they had in their possession, received cash bonuses including doubling their Main Event winnings. More on those later as several reached the final table.

Lee Mulligan fell in 26th place, which was a second bubble of sorts because the final 25 players all received a 2,200 World Poker Tour UK Main Event seat.

At around 7:00 p.m., seven hours after play began, Lee Taylor committed his short stack with the K?6? and World Series of Poker bracelet winner Lawrence Gosney looked him up with the A?10?. Gosney turned a Broadway straight to bust Taylor in 10th place and the unofficial final table was set.

Adam Ford was the player to bust in ninth place, three-bet shoving with the A?6? after Dan Owston had raised C and then called C with the 8?8?. A final board reading J?K?5?9?3? sealed Fords fate and the official eight-handed final table was set.

First to fall at the final table was one of the favorites to win the tournament. Sebastian Pawlak opened to 450,000 from under the gun with the Q?Q? and Gosney three-bet to 1.2 million with AxAx. Pawlak responded with a 3 million four-bet and then called when Gosney pushed all-in for 8.2 million.

Pawlak took the lead on the 2?Q?3? flop and then locked up the hand by turning quads with the Q?. The 8? completed the board and Gosney was gone.

Jefferson Dike, who qualified for the Main Event at partypoker, was the next to fall, albeit with a sizable bonus for his effort. Dike was one of the players who had multiple Golden Chips and had earned a 7,500 bonus for reaching the final table. His hand ended with a four big blind shove with the J?5? being called by Jordons A?K? and he couldnt connect with the community cards.

Sixth place went to the start-of-day chip leader, Martin Hogarty. Like Gosney before him, Hogarty got his stack into the middle with pocket aces, the A?A? to be exact, and Vitas Gapsevicius called with the K?10?, flopped two pair on the 10?4?K?8?Q? board, and sent Hogarty to the rail.

A ballsy bluff by Chris Sly resulted in him finishing in fifth place. Sly min-raised to 500,000 from under the gun with the Q?J? and Owston called on the button with the K?J?. Both players checked the 2?K?6? flop, with Sly betting 700,000 on the 3? turn, a bet that Owston called. The river was the A? and Sly bet all in for 2.4 million. Owston went into the tank for more than two minutes before calling with second pair and sending Sly to the rail. Sly was another player with Golden Chips and earned an additional 2,500 for his final table appearance plus the 2,200 WPT seat the top 25 finishers received.

Lithuanias Gapsevicius then crashed out in fourth place. After doubling through Pawlak, Gapsevicius pushed all in with the A?9? and Jordon made the call with the A?J?. Neither player improved by the river and Pawlaks jack-kicker was enough to bust his opponent.

Wales Owston exited in third place and hell count himself unlucky with how the final table went for him. After losing a massive pot with a queen-high flush versus an ace-high flush, Owston proceeded to push all in with the 6?4? on a 3?3?5? flop and get called by Jordon and his K?2?. Owston had an open-ended straight flush draw, but missed all of his outs as the turn and river fell 3? and A? to end his superb run.

Jordon fared the best in the early part of heads-up play, but Pawlak kept clawing his way back into contention. A key hand saw Jordon take a four-to-one chip lead when he over-bet shoved with the Q?4? on a 7?3?4? flop and Pawlak looked him up, then missed, with the A?K?.

The writing looked on the wall for Pawlak, but he doubled in back-to-back hands to find himself up to 28 big blinds. He then reclaimed the chip lead after flopping an ace-high flush and being paid off by Jordon, who backed into trip fives.

Eventually, as 4:00 a.m. rapidly approached, a raise by Jordon with the A?J? was three-bet all-in by Pawlak and his A?7?, which Jordon called. The five community cards ran 9?8?3?Q?9? to bust Pawlak in second place and leave Jordon to collect the 52,000 first-place prize, two 2,200 WPT seats and a 7,500 bonus for holding four Golden Chips. All in all, a superb week for Jordon who was railed until the very end by his pregnant girlfriend.
