While the poker world is buzzing with excitement with the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) winding down in Berlin, another huge poker festival is about to begin on the island of Malta.

The European Poker Tour (EPT) is heading to Malta for 76 action-packed tournaments across 12 days from Oct. 21-31 at the world-class Portomaso Casino. This also coincides with the 50th Italian Poker Tour (IPT) taking place at the same time.

As you might imagine, the highlight of the poker festival is the seven-day EPT Malta Main Event occurring Oct. 25-31. As is usually the case, this event features a hefty 5,300 buy-in, however, players can qualify in cheaper via many satellites running online at PokerStars.

We have a great tournament schedule planned, as well as a fantastic cash game offering, so its truly appealing for every kind of player.

In addition to the plethora of side-events running in just about any poker format you can think of, this poker festival is introducing a few new types of games that are likely to be popular.

First off, throughout the poker festival players can play in live Spin & Go tournaments with a 50 buy-in where a wheel will be spun before the tournament begins informing how big the prize pool will be. These three-max hyper-turbo tournaments mirror a similar format players should already be used to in the popular games featured at PokerStars.

Most of the time players will be playing for double the buy-in; however, if the wheel lands with a lucky spin, players can play up to 20-times the amount of the buy-in or a healthy 1,000.

Additionally, players that love Flipout tournaments on Full Tilt will have the chance to play these games in a live format for the first time. If you are not familiar with how these events work, players are all in until they reach the money, at which point the tournament resumes with normal play until a winner is declared.

This is not all, as for the first time the EPT will feature games in 10-Game Mix, H.O.R.S.E. Dealers Choice, Quintuple Stud/Draw, Pot-Limit Sextuple Omaha, and Limit Splitsville Dealer's Choice.

PokerStars, who sponsors the EPT, is understandably excited about the upcoming poker festival. PokerStars Director of Live Events Edgar Stuchly stated in a press released that, "Were thrilled to be heading back to Malta for the second time this year. The debut EPT here in March was a big success and our players relished the opportunity to experience high quality poker in a great tourist location. We have a great tournament schedule planned, as well as a fantastic cash game offering, so its truly appealing for every kind of player."
