NYX Gaming to Launch 180,000 GTD. NYX Poker Series on December 17
NYX Gaming, owners of the Ongame Network, announced the launch of the inaugural NYX Poker Series, featuring 22 tournaments with combined guarantees of 180,000.
Amaya, now owner of PokerStars and Full Tilt, purchased the Ongame Network from bwin.party in October 2012 for a fee of 15 million cash and an additional 10 million if online poker was regulated in the United States. Bwin.party soaked up a massive loss on the sale, having purchased Ongame Network in 2006 for 475 million.
Two years after Amaya took over the Ongame Network, NYX bought it for a fee of "eight times the Ongame Network EBITDA." There haven't been many changes, if any, to the network since NYX's acquisition, but on December 17, 2015, that will change with the launch of the first-ever NYX Poker Series.
The NYX Poker Series I runs from December 17-23, 2015, and will feature 22 tournaments with buy-ins starting as low as 5.50 and increasing up to 212, the latter being the 100,000 guaranteed Main Event.
As with other tournament series, the NYX Poker Series will sees several game formats played including no-limit hold'em, pot-limit Omaha, five-card draw and seven-card stud hi/low.
