TCOOP Event #1 To Make History

The Turbo Championship of Online Poker (TCOOP) kicks off its 50-event schedule on Thursday at PokerStars with over $15 million in guaranteed prize pools. The first event on the schedule is a $27 buy-in event with at least a whopping $1.5 million guaranteed in prizes available to players that cash in this tournament.

If the huge prize pool isn't enough to grab your attention, perhaps the fact that this is the first-ever phased tournament will. This historic tournament has already been running its first two phases, and at the time of this article the third phase, which kicks off on Jan. 21 at 13:00 ET, already has 4,152 players registered.

The first two phases feature 12 blind levels each with the third phase being played until a winner is declared.

Don't Celebrate Until the Hand is Over

In the game of poker, anything can happen in any given particular hand. Even if you are well ahead, you should consider holding off on any celebrations until the hand is complete.

Dwyte Pilgrim fell into this trap on a televised World Poker Tour (WPT) final table, where he called an all in with the J?10? against Ofir Mar, who was holding K?8?. Pilgrim began celebrating with his friends when the flop came J?10?4?, giving him two pair and a 90 percent advantage against his opponent.

Pilgrim announced, I dont even need to look at the turn and the river! However, it turns out that Pilgrim should have waited as the 8? came on the turn and the K? appeared on the river giving his opponent a better two pair.

You can watch the video below and read more on the Full Tilt Blog about this particular hand.

The Big Freeze at partypoker

If you prefer standard freezeouts over reentry tournaments, partypoker has good news for you. The partypoker Blog titled The Big Freeze Arrives At partypoker! announces that four of its most popular tournaments will be changed from reentry to a freezeout format including The Jab, The Contender, The Uppercut, and The Main Event.

The promotion dubbed The Big Freeze takes place from Jan. 18-24. Despite the removal of the reentries, both the buy-ins and the guaranteed prize pools remain the same - which should provide some value to those participating in these tournaments.

Discover on the partypoker Blog about The Big Freeze.
