Despite prize pools being down when compared to last week in every New Jersey regulated online poker tournament with at least a $10,000 posted guarantee, players still showed up in big numbers with some securing big paydays.
New Jersey's "mw_dailey" was the weekend's biggest winner after he navigated through a field of 322 players in the partypoker NJ/BorgataPoker.com $50,000 Guarantee to claim the $12,049 top prize. Justin "PocketProfits" Wong, who recently won that tournament on Nov. 15, 2015 for $11,712, banked $8,320 for finishing in second place.
In other news, WSOP.com NJ kicked off its second edition of the Winter Poker Classic with the first of eight events. "DINOSAUR" grabbed a cool $9,000 in the $30,000 GTD Winter Poker Classic Event #1 [Reentry] after finishing on top of the 77-player field, while "mooseman1710" was able to secure $6,000 for his runner-up performance. The opening event was unable to surpass its $30,000 posted guarantee providing extra value to the 10 players that finished in the money in this tournament.
Meanwhile, a relative newcomer in the NJ regulated online poker scene is Brandon "luckboxkins" West, who also found himself winning big after shipping the WSOP.com/888poker NJ Sunday $30,000 Guarantee for $8,100. According to his PocketFives profile page, West was actively playing regulated online poker in Nevada on WSOP.com NV until the end of November before he began actively playing on the NJ sites.
Other notable players to cash in that tournament included Andrew "TheSchuck" Schuck winning $1,500 for sixth place and Maureen "HotRedMomma" Ludwig collecting $510 for ninth.
