PokerStars Announces the Mountain Series Featuring $4 Million in Guarantees
PokerStars, the world's biggest online poker room, has announced a new series dubbed the Mountain Series.
The Mountain Series features 10 action-packed tournaments with $4.15 million in guaranteed prize pools over the course of four days. The unique aspect of this new festival is that each tournament features a higher buy-in than the previous one, similar to climbing a virtual mountain of buy-ins.
The series will take place April 7-10.

As you can see, to keep with theme each tournament in the Mountain Series is named after a famous mountain from around the world, including Sugarloaf (Brazil), Snaefell (Isle of Man), Olympus (Greece), Fuji (Japan), Matterhorn (Italy and Switzerland), Mont Blanc (France and Italy), Elbrus (Russia), Kilimanjaro (Tanzania), Denali (Alaska, U.S.), and Everest (China and Nepal).
Additionally the series takes advantage of a wide variety of formats including full-ring freezeouts, six-max, eight-max, progressive super-knockout, reentry, rebuy, three-stack, and two-day tournaments. While most of the events are in no-limit Texas hold'em format, two tournaments on the schedule will be played in pot-limit Omaha.
The series kicks off on April 7 with the $11 Mountain Series �� Sugarloaf (replacing the Big $11) at 14:00 ET and the $33 Mountain Series �� Snaefell at 16:00 ET. Both of these tournaments feature a healthy $100,000 guarantee.
Buy-ins and prize pool guarantees progressively increase throughout the series until the final three tournaments take place on April 10 with the $530 Mountain Series �� Kilimanjaro featuring a $750,000 guaranteed prize pool, the $1,050 Mountain Series �� Denail featuring a $500,000 guaranteed prize pool, and the $2,100 Mountain Series �� Everest Main Event peeking with a mountainous $1.5 million guarantee.
