WPT Announces Licensing Agreement with Adda52.com, India's Largest Poker Site 0001

The World Poker Tour has announced an international brand licensing agreement with Adda52.com, the largest online poker site in India with 800,000 registered users in a country with a population boasting more than 1.25 billion people. The partnership allows for exclusive product licensing and services, and it should see the site qualify players from India to participate in various WPT events.

Adda52.com also gains the rights to distribute select seasons of the WPT, create WPT merchandise, and leverage the WPT brand to secure local sponsorship partners, according to the press release.

"The association with the World Poker Tour comes at a very crucial time in India," said Anuj Gupta, Founder & CEO of Adda52.com. "There is a poker boom and the Indian poker community is looking for a better tournament experience. With this tie-up, we want the poker community to be exposed to international standards of poker with better structures, well-defined tournaments, and the knowledge the WPT brings to the table."

As you might recall, the WPT was acquired by Ourgame International Holdings Ltd. for a price of $35 million in cash in June 2015. Ourgame is a Hong Kong-listed corporation specializing in social gaming, with a wide offering of Internet card and board games, and the company has more than 500 million users across different platforms. Not only did that deal lend itself to hopeful WPT expansion into the Asian market, which many believe to be the next hotbed for a poker boom, but it allowed the WPT to work with any operator they'd like. Now, tapping into the large Indian market via this new partnership with Adda52.com, the WPT's brand continues its growth.

"We are proud to partner with Adda52.com, India's premier poker platform, and to expand the World Poker Tour's global footprint into one of the fastest growing markets worldwide," said Adam Pliska, President and CEO of the WPT. "Alongside Adda52.com, the World Poker Tour is uniquely positioned to bring the WPT experience to millions of fans and players in India and help grow the mind sport of poker throughout the country."

Adda52.com is owned by Gaussian Networks Pvt Ltd. and hosted India's first-ever guaranteed tournament of 10 million Indian Rupees, or approximately $150,000.
