With the World Series of Poker taking a lot of action away from the online felt, fields were a bit smaller again this weekend in New Jersey. All but one of the major tournaments with at least a $10,000 guaranteed prize pool failed to meet the posted guarantee, but that doesn't mean there weren't some big winners.
Taking most advantage of the smaller fields this past weekend was "BADBEATSBYME", who outlasted a field of 200 players to win the PokerStars NJ Sunday Special, $50,000 Gtd for $10,225. Also scoring big in this tournament were Jeremy "FunkyJesus" Danger (2nd - $7,500), Edwin "GiantGeniu$" Roman (3rd - $5,650), Angel "Chr0meKing" Lopez (4th - $4,250), and Mitch "TrumpsDong" Friedberg (5th - $2,900).
Roman added to his big day by also taking fifth place in the $50,000 Guarantee on partypoker NJ and BorgataPoker.com under the screenname "GiantGenius" for $3,550. Winning this tournament was "Rick_Grimes" for a cool $10,000 after beating "KNIEM7" in heads-up play who collected the second place prize of $6,800.
Meanwhile, "Grimmy101" took down the $30,000 GTD Weekly Sunday on WSOP.com NJ and 888poker NJ for an impressive haul of $8,400. Steven "RiVerSpiKer" Edwards finished just behind him in second place for $4,800.
